Amaco Celadon Lead-Free High-Fire Glazes, View of a decorative piece

Amaco Celadon Lead-Free High Fire Glazes are glossy, transparent, and pool beautifully to add vivid accents to textured and carved surfaces. Designed to be 100% mixable, these glazes will yield endless possibilities! Create your own colors from a palette of 17 hues, shade with Obsidian, or tint with Snow.

These glazes highlight the surface texture and bring out the color of the clay. Transparency can be adjusted and colors can be softened with C-11 Mixing Clear. Celadon glazes can be thinned with water and Amaco Gum Solution if needed. They can also be layered beneath Amaco Potter's Choice Glazes. Shake the liquid glazes well before use. Apply three coats of glaze to Cone 04 bisque (let the glaze dry between coats). AP colors are safe for spray application.

NOTE: Due to the powdered nature of the materials involved with the dry-mix dipping buckets of this product, their respective health information and labels differ from the brushing glazes.

Dry dipping glazes can be difficult to layer. Dipping glazes behave differently from brushing and they require thorough testing prior to layering.


Amaco Celadon glazes are glossy, transparent, and pool beautifully to add vivid accents to textured and carved surfaces. Formulated to be 100% mixable, these glazes are available by the pint, or in 10 lb dry packages, packaged in two-gallon buckets for easy pouring.

The Amaco High Fire Glaze series combines the customer favorite Amaco Sahara High Fire Glaze and Amaco Celebration Lead-Free High Fire glaze lines into a series of reliable glazes for stoneware and porcelain.

Amaco High Fire Glazes are dinnerware-safe glazes that produce interesting effects in both oxidation and reduction environments when fired to Cone 5-6. They should be brush-applied to bisque ware fired to Cone 04 for the best results.

The Amaco High Fire Glaze series combines the customer favorite Amaco Sahara High Fire Glaze and Amaco Celebration Lead-Free High Fire glaze lines into a series of reliable glazes for stoneware and porcelain.

Amaco Lead-Free Semi-Moist Underglaze Sets - Set No. 108

Use these fine-art decorating colors in watercolor pans for intricate, fine detail on figurines, dinnerware, etc. Intermix for tints and shading. Sets are packaged in plastic boxes with hinged lids.    Fire to the temperature of the covering glaze. Pink, Maroon, Peach, Rose and Yellow hold their color when fired to temperatures up to Cone 6; All other colors may be fired up to Cone 10. These underglazes work best with clear transparent glazes. All colors are sprayable and dinnerware safe when applied and fired under Amaco LG-10 clear glaze.

Amaco Lead-Free Velvet Underglaze - Purple

- Cone 06–10 firing range

Amaco Lead-Free Velvet Underglazes can be used with or without glaze. When left unglazed, they will assume the rich textural appearance of velvet. When glazed with transparent matte glaze, they take on a soft, satin finish. Colors will intensify when covered with a clear transparent gloss glaze but will lose their matte surface quality.

The underglazes fire true to color from the jar and can be easily applied to wet clay, greenware, or mature Cone 04 bisque (1971 F / 1077 C). To shade, tint, or customize the color of these underglazes, simply mix them with other colors. They may be brushed on mature fired bisque before applying a covering glaze. Safe for spray application. Fire to Cone 06-10 (1855°F–2381°F, 1013°C–1305°C).

Lead-free Amaco Velvets are opaque underglazes which have the appearance of velvet when left unglazed. When glazed with transparent matte glaze they will assume a soft, satin finish. Cone 05-10.

Designed with the potter in mind, Amaco Potter's Choice Glazes add stunning colors and effects to smooth or textured wares. Achieve the effects of Cone 10 reduction without the need for a reduction gas kiln or firing to high temperatures. These lead-free glazes are made to fire at Cone 5-6 (2205°F–2269°F, 1207°C–1243°C) in an oxidation kiln.

Amaco Potter's Choice glazes achieve the effects of Cone 10 reduction without the need for a reduction gas kiln or firing to high temperatures. These lead-free glazes are made to fire at Cone 5-6 in an oxidation kiln.

Amaco Lead Free Underglaze Chalk Crayons - Open package of Set no 1 Chalk Crayons with 2 removed

Create unusual styles and a variety of textures with Underglaze Chalk Crayons by Amaco. A watercolor effect can be obtained by brushing chalk sketches with water. For pastel techniques, draw on bisque ware, then finish with a transparent glaze. Sketching on bisque will result in a pebbled appearance. Underglaze Chalk Crayons can also be blended by rubbing with fingers. 

Clear Transparent Amaco Glazes LG-10, F-10, DC-10, and HF-9 are recommended as a covering glaze. Sponge on first coat of clear glaze lightly to avoid smearing your design. Allow to dry and brush on additional coats as needed. Pieces should be fired to the maturing temperature of the covering glaze. 

The maximum firing temperature for Black, Brown, Dark Blue, Dark Green, White, Gray, and Medium Blue is Cone 10. The maximum firing temperature for Turquoise, Yellow, Dark Brown, Blue-Green, Light Brown, Medium Green, and Yellow-Green is Cone 5. The maximum firing temperature for Rose and Lilac is Cone 05. 

If left unglazed, Amaco Underglaze Chalk Crayons should not be used on surfaces which come in contact with food or drink. Amaco clear glazes LG-10, F-10, and HF-9 or any other dinnerware safe glaze are recommended to be used over Amaco Underglaze Chalk Crayons to make them food safe. Amaco Underglaze Chalk Crayons have only been tested and approved as dinnerware safe when applied and fired under Amaco LG-10 Clear Glaze.

Individual crayons measure approximately 2-3/4" × 7/16"(7 cm × 1 cm), and are slightly irregular in shape.

Amaco No. 48 Speckled Stoneware Clay with Grog - shown with Bisque, Clear Glaze and White Glaze

Ideal for larger work, Amaco No. 48 Speckled Stoneware Clay with Grog is blended from several clays chosen for their plastic qualities, plus coarse fireclay and grog. Offering a superb texture for throwing,  hand-building,  and sculpting, No. 48 fires to a warm speckled buff color at Cone 5&ndash;6 oxidation, and is dark brown after reduction firing. 

The firing range is Cone 5&ndash;10 (2205&deg;F&ndash;2381&deg;F). Bisque fire to Cone 04 (1971&deg;F, 1077&deg;C). The recommended glaze firing is Cone 5 (2205&deg;F). At Cone 5, bisque is warm buff peppered with dark spots, with 11.3% shrinkage and 6% absorption. At Cone 10, shrinkage is 11.7% and absorption is 2.9%. 

A 50 lb carton consists of two 25 lb bricks, each in a poly storage bag, so any amount can be used as required and the rest stored for future use.

Ideal for larger work, Amaco No. 48 Speckled Stoneware Clay with Grog is blended from several clays chosen for their plastic qualities, plus coarse fireclay and grog.

Amaco No. 480 Speckled Stoneware Clay - shown with Greenware, Bisque, Clear, and White Glazes

Excellent for throwing, hand-modeling, and casting, Amaco No. 480 is a warm buff color peppered with dark specks when fired to Cone 5&ndash;6. At lower temperatures, it is somewhat lighter and less vitreous. The absence of grog gives this clay a smooth surface with superior plasticity. 

Transparent and light matte glazes allow the dark specks to show, creating a peppered effect. Partial glazing and slip trailing also create interesting results. 

Bisque fire to Cone 04 (1971&deg;F, 1077&deg;C). At the recommended glaze firing of Cone 5 (2205&deg;F), shrinkage is 10.6% and absorption is 5.2%. At Cone 10 (2381&deg;F), shrinkage is 10.8% and absorption is 1.9%.

Supplied in both dry and moist formulas, Amaco No. 46 Buff Stoneware Clay has a firing range of Cone 5&ndash;10 (2205&deg;F&ndash;2381&deg;F), with a recommended glaze firing of Cone 5 (2205&deg;F).  

The moist clay is de-aired to ensure a homogenous mixture that needs little or no wedging. The dry clay is finely ground and air-floated before packaging, ready to be mixed with water to form a smooth clay. Amaco No. 46 clay is excellent for all hand methods of building, push and pull, coil, sculpture, and throwing on the wheel. 

Bisque fire to Cone 04 (1971&deg;F, 1077&deg;C). When fired at the recommended glaze firing of Cone 5 (2205&deg;F), bisque is buff colored with 12% shrinkage and 1.8% absorption. Clay fired to Cone 10 (2381&deg;F) will be a soft gray color with 13.2% shrinkage and 0% absorption.

Available in two formulas. Moist clay is de-aired to ensure a homogenous mixture needing little or no wedging. Dry clay is finely ground and air-floated before packaging, ready for mixing with water to form a smooth clay. Use with all hand methods.

Amaco No. 58 Warm Brown Stoneware Clay with Bisque, Clear Glaze, and White Glaze 

Amaco No. 58 Warm Brown Stoneware Clay is supremely versatile, making it a great all-around classroom clay. Made from several clays chosen for their plasticity and color qualities, No. 58 has the warm brown color of reduction when fired in oxidation at Cone 7, and a terra cotta color at Cone 05. 

Bisque fire to Cone 04 (1971&deg;F, 1077&deg;C). No. 58 has a firing range of Cone 5&ndash;7 (2205&deg;F&ndash;2295&deg;F). The recommended glaze firing is Cone 5 (2205&deg;F), with shrinkage of 14.2% and absorption of 3%. At Cone 7 (2295&deg;F), shrinkage is 14.4% and absorption is 0.4%.

Amaco No. 58 Warm Brown Stoneware Clay is supremely versatile, making it a great all-around classroom clay. Made from several clays chosen for their plasticity and color qualities, No. 58 has the warm brown color of reduction when fired in oxidation at Cone 7, and a terra cotta color at Cone 05.

Amaco No. 77 Terra Cotta Stoneware Clay -finished with Bisque, Clear Glaze, and White Glaze

Recommended both for wheel-throwing and hand-building, Amaco No. 77 Terra Cotta Clay is made from a mixture of finely ground red and buff clays, plus a medium mesh grog. Added to make the fired pottery more porous, grog also reduces cracking, shrinking, and warping. This clay is ideal for making tiles, planters, and other pieces intended for outdoor use. 

Bisque fire to Cone 04 (1971&deg;F, 1077&deg;C). Amaco No. 77 fires from Cone 05&ndash;5 (1911&deg;F&ndash;2205&deg;F), with a recommended glaze firing of Cone 5 (2205&deg;F). At Cone 04, the clay is a terra cotta color with a shrinkage of 6.75% and absorption of 9%. At Cone 5, the color is a rich brown-red with a shrinkage of 10.5% and absorption of 0.9%.

Pieces cast with No.&nbsp;1 Porcelain Slip fire to the translucency of fine porcelain. The working qualities of this white slip make it quite flexible and easy to cast. It releases easily from molds and patches well when necessary. No.&nbsp;1 Slip is excellent for doll making. 

The recommended firing temperature is Cone&nbsp;5  (2205&deg;F, 1207&deg;C). Comes in a 1&nbsp;gallon (3.8&nbsp;L) plastic jug.

Pieces cast with No. 1 Porcelain Slip fire to the translucency of fine porcelain. The working qualities of this white slip make it quite flexible and easy to cast. It releases easily from molds and patches well when necessary. Preferable in doll making.
