Great for detailed sculptural work, Amaco’s Stone Texture (ST) series of glazes creates a smooth, variegated, stone-like surface when fired over textured Cone 04 bisque.
A vintage "mottle" pottery or weathered, worn-out look can be achieved by applying it to high relief areas.
Recommended firing temperature is Cone 05 (1911°F). Not Dinnerware Safe.

Comments about Amaco Lead-Free Stone Texture Glazes:
I make mostly functional pieces so I am not able to use on most of my pottery because it is not food safe.

disappointed, my pieces look glossy, not like stone :(
from Northwest Georgia
I am specifically referring to the Rust color - I used this product several times and it came out quite nicely at first. I went ahead and bought a significant supply of the glaze, but now it is coming out very differently...it simply looks like a boring brown gloss glaze with very little texture and certainly not a stone texture. I have tried single dipping, double dipping, thinning it out with water and nothing seems to give it a stone texture. I have used two separate earthenware clay bodies and have a hunch that it only looks stone-like on one of them, the first one. I've ordered more of this first clay to test out my theory, but in the meantime, I've had quite a few disappointments using the second kind of earthenware clay that I have a good supply of.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I love the Amaco Stone Texture Glazes. They work especially well on clay with texture.

I love this glaze on its own and as a first coat. one coat on red clay turns the ugly orange into a beautiful brown. I also like that it has a satin finish. If you use a Jungle Gems glaze over it the green, blue or whatever stone glaze you are using, will enhance that color from the gem glaze.
Blue - Very nice

Blue glaze performed very nice. Color resulted in a light sky blue with very slight milky white traces, almost cloud like.
