These exceptionally rich, non-toxic, water-based inks work great for all types of monotype techniques. The unique slow-drying formula allows plenty of time to create an image on the plate.
Because Akua stays wet on the plate, there's no need to soak paper before printing. Clean, brilliant, lightfast colors are exceptionally strong yet transparent — no chalk, fillers, or polymers are added.
Use Akua modifers to adjust sheen, thickness, and transparency. Akua Liquid Pigment cleans up fast and easy with water. They can also be used for Japanese woodcut and drawing on paper. Inks come in 4 oz (118 ml) containers.

I would buy this product again because of necessity.

Comments about Rostow & Jung Akua-Kolor Inks:
With this purchase I switched to liquid Akua from Akua Intaglio because those had leaked out of their jars. The Quin Red liquid leaks out around the cap even if the tip is opened only slightly, creating a mess. The Phthalo green and blue don't have the mixing balls in them--were they an older product? The Hansa yellow leaked only slightly and the white was okay. Same messiness as with the Intaglio. Need to use Akua because I'm printing in a safe printing studio with others. It's getting expensive with leaking problem.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

This product was terrible
This product claimed "to deliver brilliant color", and stated that "colors are exceptionally strong". I purchased red oxide to try it out. Those descriptions may apply to other colors but definitely not to this one - I'd have stronger color if I dipped my finger in my soup and drew with that. I did try shaking the bottle vigorously, and leaving the bottle upside-down over night. Neither affected the result. Blick customer service was excellent. First they replaced the bottle in case it was a bad item, then when I had the same result with the second bottle, they refunded my money. In contrast I highly recommend Schminke Aero colors as actually brilliant yet transparent- at least the Primary Yellow I purchased to try it out. I'll be purchasing more Aero soon.

My Printmaking Ink of Choice

I tried a few other inks too: Versatex, Createx and Speedball Block Printing Ink. Akua Liquid Pigment is my ink of choice. The description says it all:"These exceptionally rich, non-toxic, water-based inks work great for all types of monotype techniques. The unique slow-drying formula allows plenty of time to create an image on the plate.Because Akua stays wet on the plate, there's no need to soak paper before printing. The liquid Akua is finely pigmented and produces clean transparency when rolled up for monotype. I am able to achieve deep saturated colors with my layered monotype process. I also use the Akua Intaglio and modifiers of both product lines. Clean up is a breeze and it's safe for my home studio.

I was drawn to them because they didn't require pre-rolling on a palette (laziness). Slow-drying and easily blended, they quickly became my favorite inks to use for gelatin plate printing.LOVE them!! I frequently recommend them.
Love this product!
from Albuquerque, NM
I used this product for a 3 week (meeting once a week with each grade 2nd-8th). I didn't need to wash the brushes or rollers because it stays wet. This also means that when it's time to clean up it takes a while. Use dish-washing soap and you'll be alright. It also takes a while to dry on paper. Stays tacky for a few weeks, but kids can still take their art home. I'll use it again for sure!

THANKS! ALWAYS A PLEASURE DEALING WITH DICK BLICK COMPANY!

Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but the prints are sketchy, leaving many white spots on the paper unreproduced. I laid on the paint as thick as I could.

Just want to say I am very happy that the modifier bottles now come with a 'squirty' lid, much more practical and less messy than the previous screw on lids which meant liquid had to be tipped out or an eyedropper used.Thanks.
See how this waterbased, non-toxic ink works beautifully in a monotype print process with rich, vibrant results.
High quality for professional artists, yet safe for younger students.
