Etching presses transfer inked designs from an etching plate onto paper. Etching presses are made up of two hard rollers (typically steel) on top of a flat, hard base, also known as a bed. Etching presses have either a hand crank or a motor to push the rollers toward one another, moving the bed between them and propelling it from one end of the press to the other. The press uses pressure to pull the design through and transfer the ink.
Presses can be gear driven or direct drive. Gear driven presses incorporate gears to allow easier and smoother operation. Direct drive presses have rollers that turn at the same rate as you turn the handle.
Explore a variety of etching press parts and accessories, including blankets, register pins, stripping tabs, and more.
