Blick carries a wide range of printmaking supplies for artists at all levels of their printmaking craft, from screen printing and block printing to lithography, monotype printing, intaglio, and etching. The printmaking genre has a rich history that encompasses several processes.
Block printing (also called relief printing) occurs when wood, linoleum, or foam (or even a potato for kids!) is carved into, coated with ink or paint, and then used to make an imprint onto paper or fabric. In the screen printing process, ink is pushed through a mesh screen or stencil to print a design, also on paper or clothing such as a t-shirt. In intaglio and etching, lines are either engraved or etched into a metal plate, then transferred onto paper. Monotype prints are made by drawing on a smooth metal plate with printer's ink or oil paints. Lithography is the process of dispensing a photo sensitive polymer onto a substrate, exposing the substrate to a UV light source, and developing away the unwanted polymer.
Blick has everything you need for every form of printmaking at the best prices. Shop for inks, printing presses, printing plates, and printing tools such as linoleum cutters, etching plates, inking plates, gel printing plates, etching and intaglio tools, squeegees, brayers, and barens.
