Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the difference between watercolor pads and watercolor blocks?

Watercolor pads are bound on one side only. Blocks are glued on all four sides, eliminating the need to stretch the paper. Artwork is done on the top sheet of the block and then allowed to dry before removing.

  • How do I remove paper from watercolor blocks?

On one side of the block, either in a corner or in the center of the block depending on the brand, there will be a gap in the adhesive. You can insert a butter knife, letter opener or sturdy palette knife under the top sheet at the gap, then slide it around all four sides to separate the paper from the binding.
