Oval Wash Brushes

Used for laying in large areas of water or color, the oval wash brush has fibers that end in an oval shape and are crimped into flat ferrules. These brushes produce a soft edge with no point, and can also be used for wetting surfaces, or for absorbing excess paints or water. Used primarily for watercolor painting, oval wash brushes can be made from either natural fibers such as squirrel, ox, or hog bristle, or any one of a number of high-quality synthetic fibers. Access our Brush Charts for more information on types of paintbrushes, including brush shapes, fiber types, and measurements.
