Enameling made easy! We’ll show you a no-heat technique that mimics champlevé. Find out how to use basic tools to work designs into soft metal sheets. Add tempera paint, alcohol inks, or opaque watercolors to color the recessed areas of your design.

Step 1: Trace a line drawing or stencil onto the back of a foil sheet.

Step 2: Use a wood liner tool to emboss the design, pressing deeply into the metal. Turn the metal over and press around the embossed lines on the front side of the metal.

Step 3: Add color to the recessed areas and allow to dry. When it’s dry, use a damp cloth to clean away excess paint.
