About Sharpie
In 1857, Frederick W. Redington and William H. Sanford, Jr. founded Sanford Manufacturing Company in Worcester, Massachusetts. At first, the company focused on producing and selling ink and glue. Eventually, Sanford turned its focus to the emerging marker business and introduced the Sharpie marker, with the Sharpie Fine Point black marker becoming the first pen-style permanent marker. Today, Sharpie continues coming up with innovative ways to uncap what’s inside. It’s the brand that stands up for self-expression, letting its users express their ideas, feelings, moods, and memories with absolute conviction and absolute passion. That’s what Sharpie’s all about!
