Koinobori Windsock

In Japan, Children's Day is heralded by the appearance of flying fish known as Koinobori. Make a carp-shaped windsock to fly in the breeze outside your home!

Step 1

Fold your fabric in half and cut a curved line to make a fish shape. Save the scraps.

Step 2

Paint eyes and scales. Use scraps to make fins and a tail.

Step 3

Fold the edges of the mouth over the macrame ring and stitch the fabric together with wire.

Step 4

Glue the belly of the fish together, inserting the fins midway and the tail at the end. Allow the windsock to dry. Add a wire and hang it outside!
