R&F Pigment Sticks: Oil Painting Meets Drawing in One Intuitive Tool

Think you know frames? Here are a few basic terms every artist should know.  🖼️

🔸 First, the basics: Most frames are made from molding. That’s wood, metal, plastic, or composite. 

💡 Frame Profile  
This is the shape of the molding’s cross-section—like slicing it in half and looking at it from the side. This defines the overall look of your frame.

💡 Exterior Depth
This one’s all about drama! Exterior depth measures how far the frame sticks out from the wall. A deep-set frame = major focus on your artwork. Instant spotlight!

💡 Face Width 
Face width is how wide the molding is, side to side. Thin molding gives a sleek, modern vibe, while thicker widths scream bold and formal. Which style matches your art?

💡 Rabbet Depth  
This is the inner channel where your artwork, glazing, and backing sit. It has to be deep enough to keep everything flush and secure. 

💡 Frame Size 
This is the artwork size your frame can hold. Pro tip: Framers sometimes add a small allowance for irregularities like folded canvas edges. Details matter!

✨ Bonus Term: Floater Frame 
Floater frames let you show off the entire edge of your artwork—including the sides. Perfect for modern, edgy displays.
