Each DVD is approximately 30 minutes long. Created by award-winning producer Linda Freeman, each video offers a look over the shoulder of each master as they work in their respective studio; speak of their personal relationships, joys, inspirations, and struggles. Charles E. Birchfield's World — Charles Burchfield's subjects were most often the buildings and outdoor scenes that he walked past every day. His paintings have a deep personal symbolism. Chuck Close: Close Up — Partially paralyzed, with learning disabilities, Chuck Close's story is one of motivation and determination. Working with color photographs, he produces remarkable oversized portraits of the human condition. Dada's Son: Jimmy & Max Ernst — Jimmy Ernst and his father Max survived the horror of Nazism. Their artwork stands as a testament to the power of the human spirit with colors and imagery that probe the artists as they struggle to come to terms with the world around them.
