Our own sculpture craft rolls are made with pre-shrunk cotton gauze fabric infused with plaster of paris. It's simple to use — just cut and dip strips into warm water, then apply layer by layer on wire armatures, cores, body parts, and so forth. (Plaster cloth is not recommended for face casts.) Setting time may vary. After the plaster has dried, it can be sanded or painted with acrylic or tempera paint. Add several coats of clear acrylic or varnish to make it water-resistant. A single project roll is 4" × 180" (10 cm × 4.6 m). Hobby Craft Plaster — A 20 lb (9 kg) package of random size rolls. Approximately 180 yards. |
