Terra Cotta is a mixture of finely ground red and buff clays, plus a medium mesh grog. Grog makes fired pottery more porous and reduces cracking, shrinkage, and warpage. Recommended for wheel-thrown pots and hand-built sculpture, tiles, planters, and outdoor pottery. Amaco No. 77 Terra Cotta Earthenware Clay fires from cone 06 to 5 (1915° - 2185°F.) At cone 04 the clay is terra cotta in color with a shrinkage of 6.75% and an absorption of 9%. At cone 5 the color is a rich brown-red with a shrinkage of 10.5% and an absorption of 9%. This clay is talc free. The 50 lb carton contains two 25 lb bags of moist clay. Note — Amaco clay is AP non-toxic when moist; in dry form, product carries a health warning. Note — Any combination of clay, plaster, and molding material totaling 50 lbs or more does not qualify for our free shipping offer. |
