Sennelier Barrier Varnish

Sennelier Barrier Varnish is an alcohol-based intermediate varnish that produces a clear, gloss film on fully dried paint layers. In contrast with a retouching varnish, it should not be used until the underlying paint has fully dried and cured.

Used particularly in the double varnishing technique, it reduces the risk of shrinkage and allows re-painting by isolating the previous coats. It can be over-coated with any final painting varnish without risk of distempering the paint coats. Sennelier Barrier Varnish thins with alcohol.
