Varnishes - Retouching Varnishes

A retouching varnish can be applied as a preliminary varnish once an oil painting is dry to the touch, to allow for exhibition or shipping. The oil paint layer underneath can continue to dry through the film.

Use Daler-Rowney Retouching Varnish to bring back the original paint quality of dry or dull oil. It can be used as a preliminary varnish as soon as the paint surface is dry to the touch, since oil paints can continue to dry out through the film.

Maimeri Painting Varnish is a fatty varnish that prevents uneven drying, and produces bright tones. It increases the adhesion to the surface and the flexibility of colors.

Maimeri Retouching Varnish is a light final varnish. It's suitable for treating matte areas that form while painting before applying another final varnish.
