This group will meet monthly to focus on creative journaling. Learn how to get inspired for different pages, share, and get support for continuing to release your artistic spirit! Bring your own journal and any other materials you like. If you don't have a journal started already, simply bring a blank book to the first meeting. Scissors, glue, pencils, markers, crayons, and fun papers will be available at the meetings. Contact the store for more details.

Blick Art Materials is a partner of the One of a Kind Show and Sale being held at the Merchandise Mart in Chicago on December 3rd-6th, 2009. The show will feature pieces by over 500 artists, artisans, and designers. Each individual will also be in attendance, offering a unique opportunity to meet artists in person and support their work. The One of a Kind Show and Sale is a great place to shop for interesting works of art to give during the holiday season!

The Wheaton Blick store will host a meeting of the Illinois Watercolor Society on December 8, 2009. Activities include a demonstration led by local artist, Ken Call. Both the meeting and demo are also open to interested individuals who are not current members. Call or stop by the store for more details.

Opening Reception, Friday, December 11th, 5-7pm
The opening reception for the 12th annual Aurora Public Art Commission Winter Garden of Youth Art will be held on Friday, December 11th, 2009 from 5-7pm. This exhibit features art by students currently enrolled in Aurora schools, grades K-12.
Staff from the Blick Art Materials store in Wheaton will attend the opening reception and have materials for guests to make colorful tissue paper flowers. Stop by and visit us at the event!
All artwork will be on display in the Aurora Public Art Commission Gallery (20 E. Downer Place, 3rd Floor, Aurora, IL) through Friday, January 8th, 2010. Regular gallery hours are Wednesday through Sunday, 12-4pm. For more information, call the Aurora Public Art Commission at (630) 906-0654.

Join Blick Art Materials in supporting the FIAA Holiday smART Show on December 11th-13th, 2009. Located in the historic Flat Iron Building in Chicago's Wicker Park/Bucktown neighborhood, smART shows afford visitors the opportunity to interact with artists in their studios as well as appreciate and purchase their work. Several artists participating in the show are also Blick employees. Make sure to visit them in their shared gallery space! The Holiday smART Show is a great place to find the perfect gift for the art enthusiast on your list — or yourself!
There will also be a chance to preview work by the artists in the show during the Wicker Park Bucktown First Friday event at the Flat Iron Building on Friday, December 4th from 6-10pm.
