Great, smooth pens for sketching and drawing. Use with comic boards (a little too smudgy) and perfect on bristol paper. Great colour variety as well. Strongly recommend.

I bought the assorted pen set with 8 colors. When considering the Zig Balls, I wanted a pen that would be good for writing in ink (as opposed to my artist liner pens, nib pens, etc.), come out with that liquidy smoothness I feel from nicer pens (as opposed to the cheapy dry-feeling pens), and that I could use to ink some of my less refined and 'just-for-fun' art doodles. These pens have fit the bill and more.

I love having a bunch of different colors. I sketch/write out ideas and thoughts a lot, so different bullet-points or types of information I can write in different colors if I want, making info color-organized. Or just writing in a different color than black is kind of refreshing.

You won't find the typical 'rainbow' assortment; this set is pretty muted and cool overall, with Magenta and Aqua being the lightest. I think they're good color choices, since you don't have to worry about certain pens not being readable enough.

I like the design of the pens, with the long secure cap, rounded tube shape, and metal clasp, it's comfortable. I can keep using the plastic sleevepocket packaging it came in to hold them, so I don't have to throw them into my pencil box.

This isn't really meant for artistic inking applications, obviously, but I draw some silly comic pages sometimes, and prefer not to get too fancy with inking with my other materials. I think these pens are perfect for the purpose, especially with the variety of colors. The lines are bold and easy to make out, and I can just outline my pencil really quickly without a fuss. Sometimes good for quick ink-only sketches or doodles too.

But mostly, I think this is best for writing and such. As for waterproof, smearproof, etc., well. If you wait for it to dry long enough, that is a few minutes, it definitely won't smear. But waterproof, I tested with some water, and if it is waterproof, you have to wait more than just a few minutes, apparently. I'll have to test it out more to see how true that stuff is.
