Designed for use by professionals and students alike, Japanese Sketch Paper Pads offer an unbeatable combination of quality and economy.
Strong and absorbent, acid-free papers are made in the centuries-old Japanese tradition from the fibers of the mulberry tree. Because they do not shrink or tear easily, these sheets are good for woodblock or lino printing, as well as for scrapbooking, cards, and invitations.
Japanese sketch paper is best used with pencil, crayon, charcoal, pen and ink. The paper has a weight of 71.5 gsm.

Comments about Yasutomo Japanese Sketch Paper Pads:
I have been using the paper in print making and in the art journal that I am working on. Paper takes Speedball ink, paint and ink very well, is easy to tear for the different affects in the art journal.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Beautiful Block Prints
This was recommended to me for block prints and it picks up detail beautifully because it is a little thin and soft. I intended to paste prints to brown greeting cards but the paper is slightly too translucent.

OK Students not fussy professionals
Used for making sumi ink zen paintings. The paper is not as strong as 6mmk yasutomo roll i got and it also is not as good as 30 year old paper roll my wife got when a student beginner from the teacher. Buy it if price and size is ok for you and you are not looking to sell it as an expensive original.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Worth a try
Used for abstract sumi ink painting. At first i tore out a sheet agged at top, then learned it can detach cleanly pulling from bottom. I thought the paper looked cheap but when i painted on the rough side i liked the result on both sides and think it was fairly easy to use though unsized. I have the Blick yasumoto unryo roll which is very beautiful but harder for me to work with because the unryo warps so much and grabs water and spreads it so much. I'm happy to use both papers. I like a sized one for my purposes even though i do not make sharp lines, more misty types of looks like an old zen painting.
lightweight practice paper for sumi ink
When I need light weight practice paper for sumo-ink brush work, this paper works well.
good but not mix media good

This paper is a nice paper. good flat surface. it seemed to dent in when I used a mechanical pencil on it.Still, it was really strong! I crimped and ripped the paper into multiple parts and it was a bit hard to tear. Even though it's thin it won't wreck easily (although it retains folds)fIf you want to try using the other side of the paper (since it is a different texture) be very careful! The rougher side doesn't handle erasing and rips at the paper.

More Than Adequate

I use this product for painting with Chinese Inks, and for mounting Ink paintings that are created on this same paper-type. It is a less expensive alternative to hand-made Asian "rice" papers, and mounts easily. It comes in several sizes and in pads as well as rolls. Easily torn with a "stroke" of water; archival. The only drawback for me is that is does not boast a hand-made appearance, but that does not deter from it's overall value for me.

I use this paper to proof linocuts and for sketching. It inks up really nicely and is a great value. Cheap, cheap, cheap!
