This is watercolor and marker practice paper as inexpensive as it gets. At 500 sheets for under $50, that's probably around one penny a sheet. Maybe like an Asian version of Newsprint. One side has texture, the other side is smooth. Since watercolor and marker practice paper are extremely easy to throw money at, this is a great value. The downside is that the paper is thin, and while practice painting is possible, the paper simply can't take too much water or paint in one place. The blending marker on Copics performs well on this paper. Graphite Pencils work from HB through the Bs. You can kill your sketch by impression if you're not careful.

All in all though, the price is so little in comparison to anything that gives similar performance results, that I can live with the negatives.

I bought this paper to use in a Japanese marbling technique called Suminagashi, I have used other rice papers successfully. However, it is too thin for this technique -- it rips right apart when introduced to water.

This paper is super-thin, very delicate paper. Imagine two sheets of bible-thin paper stuck together. A hundred sheets could fit in a small folder. One side is very smooth, and good for brush writing, or pen work, the other side is very textured, and could be used for pencil or charcoal drawings if you wanted to use both sides.

This paper is very fun to use, only complaint is that it is extremely thin-which it should be, but as a paper that is primarily used for brush writing and sumi, it should be able to hold water better. Even a small amount of water could rip the paper if you aren't careful. Markers don't preform too well on this paper. Penwork will bleed if not careful.

Even then this is still some great stuff, just be sure to be respect the paper, and always use something under it for bleed-through, even if you are working with a pen. All-in-all a great value and paper!
