Need with another piece of paper for marbling
Comments about Yasutomo Japanese Rice Paper Sheets:
I purchased this paper for my first attempt at marbling because rice paper had been recommended. However, this is so delicate that it folded and tore when I tried to remove it from the water. I did try another with a separate same-sized paper on top, and I must say the color was excellent and it didn't tear. There must be other heavier rice papers and that is what I need. Meanwhile, maybe this will be good for calligraphy.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

This is the first time I have used rice paper. I decided to get some proper paper for Japanese painting since hot pressed watercolor paper did not produce the desired effect. I really enjoyed using it with the Asian watercolor set and the Sakura watercolors, and it shows all the subtleties of the watercolor. I have not tried ink yet. The paper is nice and easy to work with, too.

Yasutomo Rice Paper
By Botany Bear
from Brockton, MA
The paper is extremely thin but durable. As of this point I've only used the paper with Speedball block printing inks and it has done a great job. Looking forward to trying other media to see how the paper holds up.

Rice Paper for Gyotaku
By Ms Mac
We are using this paper for Gyotaku. First trial on the rubber fish came out very well. You cannot hold the paper down or it will tear, just lightly rub it over the painted fish. Real test of the real fish. We are a day camp and working with elementary and middle school girls.
