Comments about Yasutomo Hoboku Stroke Brush Series 6060:
This brush holds it's point exceptionally. The handle has a very nice light weight balance and the bristles are smooth, great at holding ink and keeping a point. Excellent for fine painting work or for broad brush strokes. I am completely satisfied with this brush!!!
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

holds alot of paint and is nice to use.
I use this product in Sumi-e painting. It is consistent and of high quality. A "must-have" for any brush set....including watercolors!

Best firm tip brush
Just started Chinese brush painting and could not find a brush firm enough to create ink stokes for bamboo.....until I bought these. I guess it's true, buy the best brush you can afford.

Hoboku Stroke Brush

My intent was to use this brush for calligraphy and for general landscape painting on rice paper. I like the rigidity imparted by the synthetic hairs at the core. It seems ideal for fine line work. On the other hand, the very different stiffneses the natural and synthetic hairs leads to separation of the two hair types on flexing so that bamboo leaves, for example, are quite difficult to execute properly.

I started out w a really cheap brush from my local art supply store and was quickly frustrated. My husband splurged for me on this brush and I'm so happy he did. It is amazing, easy to control, beautifully crafted. A pleasure in every way. And it makes ones strokes so pleasant. The leaves of the orchid become naturally shaded when you use the brush as you should. wonderful!

Among my Favorite Brushes
By Bamboo Lover

I use (and recommend) this brush for use in Chinese Brush Painting, particularly for applications that require a "hard" brush. It's resilience/spring characteristics are superb. It's longevity is superb. The "feel" in your hand is superb. The only drawback is that it is not available in a size larger than XL, and that it is a costly investment for first-time artists/students trying Chinese Brush Painting. For me, it is will worth the cost.

Large Hoboku Stroke Brush
The Large Hoboku Stroke Brush is a large, thirsty brush that can hold a lot of ink in its belly. At the same time, it easily narrows its line with a reduction in pressure and paints very tiny lines. I bought it because I thought it would be a good all-around brush, and it is!
