Welcome to dickblick
In Russia, many great traditions in the fine arts date back to the time of the czars. In the 21st century, Yarka St. Petersburg Watercolor Pans are still manufactured using traditional materials and techniques, and with great care and craftsmanship. The color specialists who oversee Yarka production each have over 40 years of experience.
All the pigments, including cobalt and cadmium pigments, are Russian-made in a factory that has been known for its quality for over a century. Unlike other watercolors which are made with the dry, compressed extrusion process, St. Petersburg Watercolors are liquid poured — a process preserving the integrity of each pigment and resulting in semi-moist pans that respond instantly to a wet brush.

Lovely paints for a beginner or advanced painter alike
from Twin Cities, MN
I, like so many painters, have more paints than I will ever use, but keep buying different brands out of curiosity. These paints are highly pigmented and a great value for the quantity and price of the paints. I like having full pans to work with when I'm using larger brushes and these paints rewet easily. I would say that most of these paints are pretty opaque and flat, as in they aren't granulated, so you should be aware of that before buying. (If you love the look of Daniel Smith watercolors, these paints aren't what you're looking for.) Also, if you're looking to buy one of the plastic cases you should know that the pans don't snap in tightly so they will shift around. Oh, and some of the pans aren't the same as the others, which is weird. I bought the turquoise pan separately and it's taller and not as wide as the others. O_o Still fits in the case I guess. Double check the list of colors sold in the 24 pan sets before buying too since I personally felt it was a strange selection of colors and ended up buying a few additional colors to round out the palette to my liking. Most of the colors are pretty bold, but not every color has the same punch to it. I was disappointed to discover that the cerulean blue is not as saturated as most of the other colors, but oh well. I would recommend these paints to beginners and more advanced painters alike as these are indeed professional quality paints. (Or serious crafters/illustrators/comic artists who want to add color to their projects.) If someone has never touched watercolors before, maybe start them out with the super cheap stuff first, but otherwise these paints are a great find. Are there better quality watercolors available? Yeah, but you're going to pay a premium for them and these are probably some of the cheapest paints of this quality on the market now.
Bright colors- easy to use.

I got the 24 set which I've used and loved and bought a few individual pans to add to the kit which could fit a total of 36. I really should have looked at the color selection of the expanded set as I've pretty much filled out my set with these colors and paid much more than I would have if I'd just gotten the basic and expanded! But it was fun slowly filling out my 24 set to include my own picks!
I LOVE these watercolors!
I have used these watercolor pans since art school, and I still love them! The color vibrance is excellent, and they handle lots of water without the pans cracking and peeling.

Wow! A high quality personalized portable pallette!
from Camarillo, CA
Vibrant colors, high pigment, lovely and transparent. Each color group has cools and warms. AND the individual pans are replaceable as your favorites get used up. Hurray Dick Blick! You can organize them for your personal pallette. I used the enclosed watercolor card to make a corresponding color chart with the color written in waterproof ink for reorder. I used Glue Dot (removable) adhesive to hold each pan in place. This takes some time but Tah Dah! You'll have a high quality, personalized, traveling watercolor set.

Terrific Pan Watercolors!
By James Hill
from Houston, TX
A couple of years ago I had the opportunity to try the Original St. Petersburg set of watercolor pans and greatly enjoyed them. Since then I've been using a set of individual pans in my personal palette (Red Ocher, Yellow Ocher, Gold Ocher, Green earth, Cobalt Blue, Ultramarine, Raw and Burnt Sienna, Raw and Burnt Umber, Black, and the occasional guest stars - English Red and Scarlet). The colors are well saturated, light fast, and mix easily (though some do seem a bit drier than others and require a bit of extra mixing with water to create a good working puddle of color without flakes or specks of pigment.) All in all I am very pleased with these pans and would happily recommend them to anyone to try.

Yarka St. Petersburg Professional Watercolor Pans
from Goshen, Indiana
I have been using Yarka watercolor pan paints for over 15 years. I love them. They are convenient, vibrant and fade resistant. I like that I can carry them with me without having to open up tubes and take the time to lay everything out fresh every time. I have used Grumbacher, Windsor Newton and many other professional grade watercolor paints and Yarka is at least in the same category as the other professional paints. I recommend them to all my artist friends and students as well.

not too impressed
from owensboro ky
I liked the price for a set of full pans, but was disappointed by a number of the colours as they were too "garish" for my taste, also they were used up much quicker than the likes of winsor and newton, so they were not really a good deal!
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Yarka watercolor pans - easy to use & easily replaced.
from Oro Valley AZ
Yarka watercolor pans are great! I like to use them because they are a complete palette in one place. The kit is readily available for mixing and I can carry it anywhere. Pan colors are brilliant and true and easily replaced. They soften readily for easy painting.
