Nice for beginning students
from Castro Valley, CA
Comments about Yarka Semi Moist Watercolor Pan Sets:
Bought many for a small lesson/ tea thing I did this week for first time painters. For this purpose, I think they were nice. Colors were basic but they mixed well and went on paper well. I had to buy a tube of white watercolor paint though since the 10 color kit did not come with white. I did a trial run using these colors, was able to mix colors for a nice finished piece. I would not use these for my better paintings, but for little intro lessons, the price and quality of paints are unbeatable!
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I'm using this to paint my Christmas cards this year, the color is exactly what I want. They're bright and intense with a little water and beautifully transparent with a little more.My students who've borrowed them from me to learn the media all seem to love it.

I use watercolor along with water soluble graphite and other media. I don't want to invest in large expensive watercolors, but I don't want junk either! These are lovely to work with if you use decent brushes: I don't use the little brush included with the set. Colors are nice, and last: they go a long way. I think they are a bargain.

these watercolors are great for teaching. they are bright, permanent and transparent. I use them to teach my high school art classes and the perform just like professional watercolors. With decent paper you can use these paints show how watercolor are supposed to work. They also seem to last just about 1 school year. These are the only pan style student grade paints that I would use.

I use Yarka for my grounds. I use the reds and blues and let them blend together while watery. I may mix in a little yellow. Then, when dry, I paint with gouache and Winsor Newton watercolors over this. Outstanding results.
