Winton Soft Mixing White — Winton Soft Mixing White is a soft, non-sticky blend of Titanium White and Zinc White. It retains brush and knife marks, and is resistant to yellowing.

I paint with oils W&N (Winton and Artist`s) twenty-five years ago. Always bought to Dick Blick to a very accessible prices. Although the oil quality helps in the final result, the main factor is the artist's training and skill.
W&N oils allows all what is required to develop any style of painting, because their range of colors is sufficiently wide and the pigments are of the best quality. I recommend to consult the Artist´s Handbook of Ralph Mayer (also in Dick Blick) about the quality of the pigments.
In Art, a picture is worth a thousand words. I want to show two styles of paintings. The first in a medium sized (44" x 58"), relatively sketched painting. The second, a detailed study of my wife's face.

You can do a lot of internet searching for oil paimnts, but Blick has the best selection and generally one of the better prices.

Oily canned frosting

I bought these paints because they were the brand used in an oil painting beginner's book which I'm following along with. The author recommends 3 colors in a different brand also, but I'll review those separately. First, let me say that they are a great student brand at a great price, but they're not as smooth as they want you to believe. I guess the phrases "smooth and buttery" and "creamy consistency" are the Holy Grail of selling oil paint, but Wintons don't quite live up to this, having the consistency of canned frosting. The texture is easily corrected by adding medium, but some colors (Raw Sienna comes to mind) turn into wet clumps after doing this. I will continue to use these colors to follow along with the lessons in the book, but I already know what brand of artists' grade I'm going to purchase for serious artwork, since they make the other student grade paint used in the projects.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I LOVE these paints!they sell them at a rock bottom price and you can do some great paintings with them! now if you don't believe go see "Painting with Fire" with F.Frazetta (R.I.P) and you'll see that he has these colours in his studio or search for Robert Hagan on youtube and see what impressive paintings he makes with these paints!the more I paint and the more I believe that it's the Artist that makes the painting and not the paint... enjoy!

I use these to paint portrature, abstract, landscape. I use them mostly for studies and sketches of what I'll paint later. I have bought most of the colors available and some like Prussian blue and Phthalo blue are really nice and mix well with professional artist oils. Using these alone the paints are fine, thick, pretty easy to work with on canvas or panel. I find they clump and get pretty muddy quickly though when using with other professional grade artists oils. Too the oil content is very high. If the caps aren't tightened as much as I can possible tighten them oil leaks out overnight. I've put these in a storage box with my Williamsburg paints because these two brands are the oiliest I've used that have the leakiest tubes. I don't mind the oil and am used to working with other oily paints e.g. Blick, Sennelier and Gamblin. For the price though, I totally recommend these paints and will continue to use them for daily painting.

First time painting with oil paints but I can already tell I purchased quaility oils. Colors are vibrant and the smell is micro-minimal. The price was perfect too! I've never seen the price for this brand so cheap! Thank you.
