Welcome to dickblick
Winton brushes feature the finest Chinese hog bristles, handset into seamless corrosion resistant ferrules. The natural curve of the bristle is utilized to produce a resilient brush that retains its shape even after heavy use.
The handles have a green stained natural wood finish protected by four coats of lacquer. While specifically designed for use with oil, these quality brushes are equally suitable for acrylic.

easy to hold and handle. Just great.

Needed a strong bristle brush for oils and this fixed it. My teacher recommend these brushes and they work wonders in class for her. Now I don't struggle and now I can do the strokes I need. Sooo happy I bought several brushes and getting the results I want.

Now that I'm back in to painting, I've been giving these a workout, with mixed results. The smaller ones tend to splay out after some use; the larger ones tend to hold up better but give rough results. I'm forever picking out bristles after using any size. The bristles are fairly stiff and don't hold a lot of paint compared to better brands and models. They are fairly solid for student brushes. If you are a serious painter, you might want to spend a little more and get a higher quality model.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Winsor & Newton Hog Bristle Brushes
from Rihmond, VA
I've been using this brush since 1997. Painting oils on canvas. The #8 bright is my favorite and main brush. No 8 is my "cloud" and grass brush. Use the #4, #6 also.

I will never buy these again
These are the worst brushes I have yet encountered. After one hour of normal non-aggressive use, they were frayed and completely lost their shape. Definitely not for someone seriously painting.

Bristles come out
The bristles come out in the oil paint. I'm not rough on my brushes, just normal strokes. It's annoying to have to dig these stiff hairs out of my paintings.
