OK So Far
Comments about Winsor & Newton Series 7 Kolinsky Sable Pointed Round:
I've used my pointed round on one painting so far. It's very soft compared to Blick sables. It was shipped with very protective packaging. There are a couple of wonky hairs already, though, and I've taken good care of it.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Hands down, my favorite brush
from Richmond, CA
This brush is my favorite....and I have lots of brushed. The point is fine and even a bigger brush can get a small line. It holds a good amount of paint. I couldn't get the series 7 for a long time so getting this set was delightful.

After reading time and time again comments by artists recommending sable brushes, I finally made the leap. Yes, there is a huge difference in applying watercolor with a sable brush compared to a synthetic. It is a big investment and I am so glad I made it. The brush is amazing.

Listen, I've painted miniatures (toy soldiers, basically) for more than a decade and I've used a lot of brushes along the way. I had always heard about W&N Series 7s but didn't believe the hype. Believe it - these brushes are amazing!Since I glaze paint more often than not, I'm used to getting the paint around where I want it but not quite there. With these brushes, the paint is getting where it needs to go every time. When you get one (or, hopefully, more) you'll see for yourself that they will always hold a tip and that you'll have much better control of your paint versus other brushes. Now, there is a downside: I didn't order more!

WINSOR & NEWTON SERIES 7 BRUSHES ARE GREAT FOR INKING!
from Lincroft, New Jersey
These brushes are technically made for watercolor painting, but they can also be used inking black and white art. For a long time I used to use the Raphael Kolinsky Sable brushes, but heard from other artists who worked with black India ink that the W&N Series 7 brushes are the best. And although a little more expensive, they are definitely worth it. The Brush keeps a sharp point, I can get achieve line quality while inking, and the brush moves more smoothly and fluid across the paper when being used with ink. The other brush I use is an Escoda Kolinsky Tajmyr Pointed Round (Series 1212, that one is awesome too. If you work with ink and don't already use the Winsor & Newton series 7 brushes, then you need to get them. It will be worth it.

Great brushes that make painting a pleasure.

I use the brushes to paint my miniture armies (Warhammer, Warhammer 40K, AOS, etc.) and they allow me to paint in great detail. They last longer than other bushes I have used and give a better degree of control when painting.
Best Brush in the World

I've been oil painting for over 30 years, and the Series 7 is the best brush I've ever owned. It is widely regarded as such, and its price kept me from indulging for a long time. But since I first splurged and bought it, I've had to have one on hand. I mostly only buy the size 1 round because I use it most. It holds paint well, glides to a point beautifully, keeps it shape, and is a joy to work with. I'm not sure it lasts a lot longer than other brushes, but with care it holds up well. I think it is worth the price because it makes painting more enjoyable, and makes it easier to accomplish what I want. I keep my series 7 in fancy case and call it Excalibur.
