You can use this product for painting drawings, murals , paintings and more. It could be your best friend. If you like art then this is your B.F.F. So you should buy it. The thing that is great about it is that it is used for lots of stuff and it has a sharp looking tip. Something that is not so great is a little bit fragile. But not too much. You should totally buy this product. :)

I don't know where Mike N from Gulf Coast got his information, I have been a comic artist for over 20 years and I have never had a problem with this brush. I have had some last for years. I never heard of any artist buying a dozen of these and throwing away ten. As with anything you may get a bad one here or there just send it back and get a new one. I would absolutely rocomend this to a friend.

Bought the size 7 W&N Series 7 brush. When wet, the hair fibres align to a point, but when moderately dry, several hairs are really crooked and stick out in odd places. This makes it hard to lay on high contrast washes or dry washes, or paint details. The brush was like this out of the box.

I use these brushes for fine detail in my photo realism style. They hold up well with water soluble oils and clean up well with soap and water. I've had some of these brushes for as long as five years.

Watercolor novice at best but wanting to be serious about my progress, I hunkered down and bought the series 7 winsor newton 5 piece set and a 7. Boy what a Differance , just in the weight of the brush with the increased water being sucked up into the brush body was significant.
The "snap" was there in my stroke, it was very resilient but do recommend a brush conditioner to keep the brushes form, it looked way to similar to my other lower quality brushes once wet.
I am a better painter because I bought the best, it's made a huge Differance in my technique and has brought me far better results.
One point I didn't like is though the brushes work perfectly there were a hair or two that weren't laying right from the get go. I'll have to survey them to make certain "The Masters Brush Cleaner And Conditioner" can rehabilitate them.

When I first got a W&N Series 7 #3 it was amazing, it holds it's point and it still is one of my most valuable tools to this day. I decided to get a #2 for a backup, just in case if something happened. Well, I just got the #2 today and it will not even hold a point it's terrible, and it's brand new! I take very good of my brushes, I use brush conditioner after every use especially since I use my brushes for inking. I tried to complete a four panel comic strip with the #2, and I just could not get anywhere with out a the point. I have heard of rumors of W&N sable brushes having inconsistent quality, and some comic artists buy them by the 12 and just throw away 10 of those 12; but that is ridiculously expensive! I love my #3 so much, but I want a backup that is of the same quality that keeps a point; Why can't they all keep a point? Is it just the #2? I am now afraid to buy another series 7 because of this and the amount they cost. I hear that a lot of comic artists have switched to rosemary brushes, but now I hear their quality is hit or miss too. It seems like today's quality tools are just not consistent, and that makes me very sad and depressed. :(

I broke my own rule and bought some brushes that I thought would be as good as a Series 7. Won't happen again. Just close your eyes and buy the Series 7. Don't think about how expensive it is. Don't think about how all the other watercolorists are going to think you're a brush snob. Just buy it.

I'd give it 10 stars if I could.
