Welcome to dickblick
Since 1832, when Henry Newton and William Winsor introduced the first moist watercolors to the world, much of Winsor & Newton's reputation for supreme quality has stemmed from its Professional Watercolor range. More than 180 years later, the original Winsor & Newton moist watercolor continues to be formulated and manufactured according to the company's founding principles — to create an unparalleled watercolor range that offers professional artists the widest and most balanced choice of pigments with the greatest possible permanence.
Through strict adherence to these founding principles, Winsor & Newton Professional Watercolors offer brilliance, transparency, and purity of color unparalleled by any other brand. For the 21st century, these key qualities are achieved through a combination of choice of raw materials, custom-made machinery, and expert formulation by experienced chemists and artists.
Today, the Winsor & Newton Professional Watercolor range benefits from continued advancements in pigment technology and production methods, building on the company's already high standards to produce even brighter, more transparent, and more stable colors. Equally important, many of the formulations remain the same — proving that they cannot be bettered!

Windsor Newton watercolor paints are my solid go to product. Colors are consistent from tube to tube. The mix well on the palette. To put it simply they are just darned good. And Blick has a great price; much better than my local neighborhood art store.
Excellent Quality in Watercolor!

I paint watercolors in many sizes. I use these Winsor Newton tube watercolors almost exclusively because they are permanent and have transparent qualities that make them great for layering. They are just a lot of fun to experiment with!
Over 50 years of purchases.

I have been a professional artist for over 50 years (yikes) and can remember ordering from Dick Blick back in the 60's. I have always enjoyed the selection and competitive pricing, The Stratmore pads and pigments were packed with care and good quality for the price. I went to the post office and told my husband "That can't be my Blick order already!" I was amazed at how quickly you ship. I can spend hours looking through your catalog which is filled with colorful tabs sticking out everywhere. Thanks for your continued focus on what artists need and understanding how important quality is.

Winsor and Newton is my go-to for tube colors. I've been using them for around 20 years, and can see no reason to use anything else. Consistant from tube to tube as the years pass. No hidden surprises, no cheapening of the product.

I have used this product for almost 40 years. My method of working is a veiling technique. The quality of this product allows the light to shine through giving a luminosity through each veil. I have never had a complaint.

Winsor & Newton Change for Better
from Hickory, NC
There was a time when I had problems with Winsor & Newton watercolor pigment drying into cakes, then splitting. For that reason I had switched to Holbein, which easily re-liquified. Winsor & Newton watercolor pigment is now made in France and is packaged in silver-colored tubes. I have noticed that these paints don't dry into cakes in a short period of time and they re-liquify very well. The colors are very rich. The pigment-to-water ratio is great in that it takes little pigment to water to get rich color. I just have to check pigment numbers to locate Winsor & Newton/Holbein equivalents; i.e., Holbein Royal Blue PB60 is Winsor & Newton Indanthrene Blue PB60.

nice, intense pigment
from Dallas, TX
I am hoping to go to more Daniel Smith - the more I read about this paint, the better value I think it is compared to W and N. But, if money is no object, W and N are great! I'm a budget.
