I really like this medium and always find myself going back to it. I just wish someone could invent a scentless medium that holds paint like this one. This medium is best used for paintings that are slightly buttery. It dries to a half matte with the slightest gloss - a really dull gloss in other words.
Dries nice and not too fast depending on the paint to medium ratio and color of course. One of my favorite medium choices in this price range.

I use this as a thinning agent for my oil paintings. I LOVE it.
Mixes well with pigments, speeds drying times, low odor, and does not yellow.
It does however create a sheen, so if you are looking for a flat finish to your work, this may not be the right choice.

I am not a fan of Alkyd mediums. They dry too fast to a plastic-like gloss and you cant adhere additional layers without using more of the medium consequentially weakening the layers of paint. It does however have its uses and I have found it useful for mixed media applications and it is the best product in this category.

To beginning artists out there: Do not use it initially, it is a dangerous and addictive crutch. Oil paint traditionally does not need medium for most uses, if your paint is to thick, change the brands or make your own.

liquin Impasto I had trouble finding this produt for a long time it was formerly oleopasto> I am so glad it's back> Great product for painting start to fininh drys fast and drys to a uniform sheen.

I am an art instructor and I use Liquin original for all my oil paintings. It is on my list of supplies for all my students. It is used as a layer between each coat of paint, and as a medium throughout the painting to facilitate the application of the paint. It helps give a luminosity to the paintings that other mediums are not able to do. It is also used before continuing to paint, in between each layer, to create the feel of wet paint on a dry surface and to create the look of wet paint on a dry surface making it easier to match fresh paint and giving the feel of painting on a wet surface. I have been told in the past that Liquin is as close in formula as is possible to match the Old Master's hand made formulas. My understanding is that it contains paint thinner, lindseed oil, varnish, and a quick dryer. I would recommend this to any artist wondering which medium to use.
