Winsor & Newton's famous drawing inks are formulated from a series of soluble dyes in a superior shellac solution. Apply them with brush, pen, or airbrush. They are widely used by illustrators, designers, calligraphers, and artists.
These brilliant colors are fully intermixable, and they are easily diluted (with distilled water). Fast drying and water resistant, they have excellent adhesion on most surfaces.
Seldom is an art materials product so beautifully designed, and so pleasing to handle and touch, as are the Winsor & Newton Drawing Inks! The 14 ml (½ oz) glass bottles have an oversized base, so they are difficult to overturn or spill. The labels on the bottles, and even the boxes they come in, are themselves timeless works of art.
Each label has been individually designed, and contains a unique and whimsical illustration that features the color itself. Many of Britain's finest illustrators contributed to the series. No wonder that the colors sets have become one of our favorite gifts for illustrators!
Note — Dye-based colored inks are exceptionally brilliant, but their colors should be considered fugitive. Consider them to be an illustrator's medium, used to create original works for scanning or reproduction. Avoid bright light when displaying them, and use UV-protective glass.

Love these inks!
These inks are not only beautiful but so are the bottles they come in. I don't have to mix "orange" but they do mix easily. Really nice product

Quick Drying Solid Black Ink
from Molena, GA
As a tattoo artist, this ink is perfect for shading and line work on flash paintings. It dry relatively fast, but can be shaded out if you brush it quickly with water. Blends easily. Solid packaging. The dropper doesn't creat let a mess either. This ink goes a long way, so only a few drops will help you create beautiful contrasting pieces of art. Mix with water to ratio and get excellent shading mixtures. You can re-wet drying ink in your palette just with a drop of water. Works perfectly with Sakura Koi Water brushes. Highly recommended!!

Great inks! I love how the brilliant the ink colors are. The only problem I have is that the inks will fade so it's great for illustrations that you plan on scanning on the computer. I only feel this way because I created a small painting and ended up loving it so much but realize it will fade but at least the colors are perfect in the beginning!!!

Best Indian Ink
from Shandon, CA
This is one of the best Indian inks and the highest quality of all of them I've tried. It is hard to find this, so I'm happy to know Blick is carrying it at a great price.
The gold is absolutely perfect
The gold is absolutely perfect for what I need. It's a nice rich gold that isn't too light or too dark and had a good amount of sparkle to it that really pops off the paper. I also bought the silver and was vastly disappointed with it. It was thick, had no sparkle and smelled strongly of chemicals. I can still use it if I water it down, but it's still a bit sad compared to how wonderfully fluid the gold is.

Great results-but fades fast
from Seattle, WA
I have used this ink religiously for the past few years on large scale paintings. I loved the vibrancy and selection of the colors. This past summer I had some of these pieces hanging in a gallery space with large windows, which caused the pinks and browns to fade drastically by the end of the show (two months long). I did have high grade UV protecting glass on some of these pieces that where destroyed. I suggest if you do buy this product not to hang any piece where it will have direct sunlight. I
