All solvents vary in strength and in their capacity to "loosen up" the body of the color, but the solvent with the greatest power is Distilled Turpentine — the only solvent capable of easily dissolving Dammar resin. Distilled Turpentine makes a viscous mixture. It evaporates slowly, and is the most hazardous and strongest-smelling solvent commonly used by artists. Keep the bottle tightly closed and away from light to prevent oxidation. Do not use Distilled Turpentine if it has thickened.

Turpentine is flammable and toxic. Use only in a well ventilated area.

Rank odor, cheap, hardware store variety tupentine. Disappointed.

This is the only brand of turpentine I use. It has a pleasing and aromatic fragrance and I use it to formulate my own traditional oil mediums and varnishes. I highly recommend it.

I have been using this turpentine for 46 yrs. Some of my oldest paintings are still bright and protected. I don't seem to have to worry about the UV rays. I clean my brushes with it also. I try to keep the same brand with all my oils. Now that the cost has gone up and it not being very available in the stores, I use a turpenoid to clean my pallette. Put a fan in your window keep it going as long as the painting is drying and there you have no problems. Goodluck, Happy Camper

The bottle comes in a protective cardboard box. The quality is clearly very good. Avoid overexposure to fumes by being by open window, setting up a small exhaust fan in the window, opening other doors and windows for cross ventilation.
