Welcome to dickblick
Introduced in 1935, Winsor & Newton Designers Gouache is considered by many to be the finest artist-quality gouache available. Today, thanks to significant developments in technology, the colors are smoother, flatter, more opaque, and more brilliant than ever before.
The Designers Gouache range offers a wide and balanced spectrum of colors. It includes bright colors for designers, more lightfast ones for fine artists, and a number of unique, ultra-bright colors such as Opera Pink and Opera Rose — ensuring that all artists can obtain the palette that best suits their work.
Exceptionally high pigment levels result in unsurpassed covering power and clean color mixes. The binder is pure gum arabic, which imparts a creamy, flowing consistency that glides across grounds and dries quickly to a flat, velvety, non-streaky finish.
All Winsor & Newton Designers Gouache colors are fully compatible with Winsor & Newton Professional Watercolors and Cotman Watercolors. They may also be mixed with Winsor & Newton Professional Acrylics and Galeria Flow Acrylics. Care should be taken, however, as some gouache colors may react adversely with acrylics. Combinations should be tested on palette paper prior to use in a painting.
Winsor & Newton Designers Gouache comes in 14 ml (0.47 oz) tubes. Black and White are also available in larger 37 ml (1.25 oz) tubes.

Comments about Winsor & Newton Designers' Gouache:
This gouache is an amazing thing to have. you can use it as a solid white that's opaque and use it to mix it with other colors as well which i've done several times. i've used it in every painting in some way since i've received it and it never fails

I think W&N gouache is decent, but there are better brands. But if you want a good gouache that is easily available in stores, then it will work well for you.
You can't have too much of this!
I use this product to refine or correct my own art, add to pigments to create hard-to-find new ones, and add light accents as needed. It's SUCH a helpful product!
Successful finishing medium
from Pendleton, Oregon
I had a backlog unfinished projects. I brought one along to my weekly watercolor group as something that could be worked quickly if I finished or reached a stopping point with the the main project. The Windsor Newton gouache just purchased, was just what was needed to spark up and finish that old almost forgotten work.I was delighted with the way the gauche covered an area with subtlety without dominating. I have tried a variety of gouaches, but never had such ease of use or achieved the intended result.

As a calligrapher, I use Winsor & Newton gouache not only for artwork, but also for all my calligraphy. Never use ink!

Haven't used it yet...takes a while for me to use a tube of gouache but it seems like a fresh tube. I arrived promptly and in a good box. Don't know how it could be better.
My first extensive set of gouache paints
By Jerry, a retired billboard artist
from Galt, CA
Since this is my first extensive set of gouache paints I stuck with a familiar brand in Winsor & Newton. Of course, I can't compare them to other brands yet, but they are performing as expected. I believe they will be helpful for my purposes of doing preliminary studies. Dick Blick is always a reliable supplier and they shipped them to me in a timely fashion. They even sent a back ordered tube of Burnt Sienna in a separate package not long after I got all the rest so they really went out of their way to fulfill my order.
New product, great buy
from Chattanooga Tennessee
I've never used gouache before, but was looking to add some opacity to my watercolors. This product works beautifully, giving me exactly the quality I was looking for. I only got black to try, but I'm definitely coming back for the other colors. Can't wait to experiment! And at these prices, it's easy to.
