Welcome to dickblick
Introduced in 1935, Winsor & Newton Designers Gouache is considered by many to be the finest artist-quality gouache available. Today, thanks to significant developments in technology, the colors are smoother, flatter, more opaque, and more brilliant than ever before.
The Designers Gouache range offers a wide and balanced spectrum of colors. It includes bright colors for designers, more lightfast ones for fine artists, and a number of unique, ultra-bright colors such as Opera Pink and Opera Rose — ensuring that all artists can obtain the palette that best suits their work.
Exceptionally high pigment levels result in unsurpassed covering power and clean color mixes. The binder is pure gum arabic, which imparts a creamy, flowing consistency that glides across grounds and dries quickly to a flat, velvety, non-streaky finish.
All Winsor & Newton Designers Gouache colors are fully compatible with Winsor & Newton Professional Watercolors and Cotman Watercolors. They may also be mixed with Winsor & Newton Professional Acrylics and Galeria Flow Acrylics. Care should be taken, however, as some gouache colors may react adversely with acrylics. Combinations should be tested on palette paper prior to use in a painting.
Winsor & Newton Designers Gouache come in 14 ml (0.47 oz) tubes. Black and White are also available in larger 37 ml (1.25 oz) tubes.

Comments about Winsor & Newton Designers' Gouache:
This Gouache is the best for it's cost that I've found. It goes on smooth and re-hydrates as it should. It has amazing opaque coverage and mixes well.

Winsor & Newton Designers Gouache

Nice to use. Pleasant packaging. Enjoying to use.
Excellent Gouache! = )
I was introduced to DICKBLICK by an artist on Instagram who bought loads of artist's products especially watercolour from this website and she strongly recommended as you could find a variety of amazing products you wouldn't find anywhere else. So I gave it a go with buying a set of Gouache from Winsor & Newton, and 10 extra separate gouache colours that I wanted on my collection too. So the thing that I really like about this is that after you have place your order, they won't charge you directly because they will need to calculate the shipping first and confirm with you by email with choices of postage fees. They give you a week notice, if you don't wish to proceed they will cancel your order. I find this a very realistic approach to delivery choices. = ) My gouache arrived very soon, and they were packed very neatly. I tried them as soon as I got home in 2 paintings and the colours are really vibrant, good for mixing (similar to oil but in watercolour form), I have only just started so don't wanna be making exaggerating comments and reviews, but t is so far a quality product to have and I am planning on buying more colours from Dickblick as they offer a range that local stores don't have. But it would be nice to have some kind of discount or 1-2 extra colour tubes if purchases went over 70 to 100. Overall it has been an excellent experience! =)

blick watercolors, strathmore paper, goache, palette knives,
By I'm the Knied Watercolors® artist
from Belmont, Ma.
I have been a Blick customer for nine tears... before discovering telephone orders, I drove from Belmont to your Central Square Cambridge store. Always had to bring somebody to help me carry my wonderful purchases. I became a Blick's customer member complete with card. I am 83 years old and my telephone orders have been mostly wonderful. When there was a mistake or a discount wasn't applied, I always got it fixed with your excellent customer service people. Thank you for being Blick's. I have used other cheaper watercolors and Blick's is so much better in terms of color, texture, realiabiity. Using a knife (many knives!!!) with watercolors (Knifed Watercolors ® requires great experimentation. I am trying many knives in many shapes and getting good results. Thank you, each and every one of you, for assisting me on this journey. I've been painting since I was 17. This is a Make-Your-Mark project and I do it the Blick's way.

I found that the opacity varied greatly among colors. Was disappointed in this.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
I like to use gouache with my watercolor and colored pencils to help give some pop to areas of my artwork. Windsor and Newtons has a great consistency and goes on perfectly.
