A range of synthetic brushes made by blending fibers of different thicknesses to achieve the most important qualities sought after by the watercolorist — strength, spring, and color holding capacity. The round and one-stroke brushes have nickel-plated ferrules and short blue lacquered handles. The aquarelle brush has nickel-plated ferrules, solid acrylic handles, and angled flat ends. Cotman Watercolor Brush Pack — Synthetic filament blend brushes for the student to professional user. Durable Cotman brushes feature excellent point and spring. They are considered a soft brush, slightly stiffer than sable. The soft filament is designed for use with watercolor, offering good flow control and color carrying capacity. This versatile 7-brush set includes one each Designers' Round #1 and Round #6 (for fine detail, lines, and washes), Rigger #2 (for lines, long scroll work, and detail), Fan #2 (used for blending and softening edges), Filbert #1/4 (for creating a broad mark with a soft edge), Angle #1/8 (used for filling small areas or creating foliage), and One Stroke #3/8 (to cover large areas or create thin lines). Note — Brush sizes are not standardized. The length and width of a brush of a given shape and size varies considerably by manufacturer. Since fine art brushes are handmade, expect some variation even among brushes from a given manufacturer. ™ Winsor & Newton is a trademark. ™ Cotman is a trademark. |
