Welcome to dickblick
A range of synthetic brushes made by blending fibers of different thicknesses to achieve the most important qualities sought after by the watercolorist — strength, spring, and color holding capacity.
The round and one-stroke brushes have nickel-plated ferrules and short blue lacquered handles. The aquarelle brush has nickel-plated ferrules, solid acrylic handles, and angled flat ends.
The Designers' Round is a variant on the regular Round brush that is designed for highly detailed application. (Another name for this brush would be a "spotter"!) It is narrower, with less of a belly and lower color carrying capacity, and the hair is shorter for fine control.
A Rigger is a specialized Round brush for painting fine lines. It can also be used, with practice, for lettering. The original Rigger was a brush that was invented in the 19th century for painting the riggings on sailing ships. It is narrow in diameter, with very long hair.
Winsor & Newton's Cotman Round is a full bellied round brush with fibers of varying widths, so that it has both springiness and high color carrying capacity.

Does the job well.
Nice springy brushes that hold water well and they do not shed.
Great for water painting greeting cards

Comments about Winsor & Newton Cotman Watercolor Round Series 111:
I use these brushes to paint stamped images for greeting cards. I love that the round brushes keep their point, and they last forever even with frequent use. The bristles are soft and don't damage the lightweight Arches watercolor paper that I often use. Unfortunately, the most recent 6 round I received didn't have the plastic cap, which I like to keep to protect the bristles when not in use. I keep my brushes in a plastic box and they rattle around during transport. Otherwise, I love these brushes for their competitive price point and performance. I highly recommend, but I think next time I'll purchase at the store instead of online to make sure I save the cap. Great product!
Love, love, love the W/N designer rounds

I love the amount of pf water and pigment that these brushes hold. Wonderful for very fine to broader, calligraphic strokes.
My Favorite Brush!

I bought my first Winsor & Newton Cotman Watercolor Rounds when I needed to supply brushes for a class I was teaching. I've been using them ever since. They are so durable, keeping their shape through a lot of use. They also are superb for controlling the line or wash. Cotman brushes are a solid deal, and I actually prefer them to more expensive brushes. They don't have to be babied! I definitely recommend them to my students.
Best brushes for fine line painting
from Vieques, PR
I use this to paint fine detail on ceramic tiles and vessels. They hold up better than all the others I have tried in my long life. Glazes and under glazes are hard on brushes and these go the distance.

Got the size 8 round 111. After you wash it/ dry it, and shape it to a point, it will actually stiff up and keep it's original point and body. Never seen any of my cheap brushes do that. Just add a little bit of water to soften it up again. It has a nice spring and medium to soft feel when wet. I have a feeling this brush will last a long time. If it would hold a little bit more water, I would give it all 5 stars for perfection. I will try out the larger round to see if that meets my needs. Besides that, I like it. A really nice brush for the price.
Definitely would buy again
