Windsor Newton WC Paper
this is my preferred WC paper. I can count on its quality to be consistent.
My favorite paper
By Watercolor Painter
from Bakersfield, CA
I love this paper. It does everything it should and it holds up well. I'm down to my final few pieces and even after years it's sizing has held up. I've tried different papers, some good, some "eh", but in the end this is the paper I measure all others against.
I am traditional watercolorist in loose style. I don't stretch, and even with all the water i use there is little buckling. What buckling there is straightens out when i wet the back and press it between boards for a few hours. It's surface holds up to lifting and layers. i also make some pieces with fluid acrylics and it holds for that medium too. I bought 100 sheets and they have held up fine. i recommend this sheet with no reservations, while stating I review artist grade only, having no experience with cotman grade.Con: perhaps the sheet could be a bit brighter [white]

This paper does not age well
from New Rochelle
This paper was fine when I bought it a few years ago, but it has completely lost its sizing and is now unusable. I've never seen anything like it. A total loss. Luckily I used most of the pack when it was new.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Not Bad for the price!
from Florida east coast
Bought this paper for the good price. Needed cold 140 for a couple of workshops for practice paper, learning the techniques. It held up pretty well with all the re do's.Would buy it again.

good paper at a great price
from Winston-Salem, NC
I use this for mixed media watercolor pencil/oil and wax colored pencils. This was the first paper I've found that took wax pencil without leaving white in the valleys, yet had a good tooth for wc pencils. I don't stretch. The paper only made a very slight valley from one side to other, but didn't bubble even when reworked several times. The tooth isn't really random yet isn't annoyingly noticeable even on 7.5 x 5.5 inch painting. I really like it.

High quality, no negatives
from Madison, WI
I use this paper for conventional watercolor painting, and also for mixed media such as water-soluble crayons, Inktense pencils, acylic, etc.PROS: I think it's a perfect general-use paper for watermedia. The surface holds up to color lifting and layering, and looks good with all paints I have tried. I don't stretch my paper (too lazy), and although it may buckle somewhat while drying, it flattens out nicely in the end. CONS: None

Finest Quality, Color Holdout & Sizing
By Paris John
from Redondo Beach, CA
As a watercolorist for many years, I've tried most brands and by far the Winsor Newton 140# CP (Not) exceeds all others! I stretch my paper and the amount of shrinkage is minimal, the natural white basis is perfect for most subjects and the sizing allows for repeated corrections, lifting and yet the color holds brightly and applies without pinholes! This is a high-quality cotton paper with a lovely, non-machined surface appearance that is very desirable for most subject matter. Winsor & Newton certainly knows what characteristics many of us are looking for! I give it 5 stars for quality and ease of painting and archival longevity!
