Great varnish and you can apply just after the oil has dried

I saw a video where an artist poured on center of his painting and used lint free cloth to spread! No brush!! It was easy & fast - leaves a slight sheen not too glossy. I'd call it satin. I used a microfiber towel and that worked well. I first tried it on a painting that wasn't my favorite. Then felt confident that I liked it enough for my prize painting. Best wishes! Merry

This was my first time to use varnish. I read reviews and watched demonstrations and decided to go with W & N Retouch Varnish. Everything went fine. I would recommend using very little of the product. It will streak and drip if you use too much. I was able to dab with a sponge to eliminate drips and streaks. Also, I bought my brush at a paint store. It was high quality and affordable, unlike the $70 brush that was recommended in a W & N video. It did not drop fibers and worked well.

Great retouching varnish

This is a very good retouch varnish to give your painting some life before it has set enough to give a final varnish. You can brush on this varnish as thin as you want and it does not dissolve the paint, (but don't over brush: once in one direction and once in another).
Great Product, great delivery

Blick And Winsor & Newton Win Again

I needed some retouching varnish for three huge paintings I'm working on in oils....and, as I've been told, oil painting is considered less than trendy these days, and such things as retouching varnish can be tricky to get. I found retouching varnish made by the exceptional French art supply company Charvin (I'm using a number of their oils on these paintings), but they wanted almost $100.00 for one liter, which is not enough for the size of these works. I called our closest Blick store in Seattle, and they told me YES, wonderful old Winsor & Newton supplies retouching varnish...and it was priced at half the cost of the Charvin. varnish. I ordered the Winsor & Newton, and it got here nicely, and I love it. It's doing the job, and more, and it's making the Archangels in my paintings shine!Thank you, guys!

Easy, even application with little or no texture and it dries in just a few hours.
Finally, a varnish that I can count on.

Works well on heavy textured surfaces...though it usually requires two coats. It dries fast so that is not a problem. It was recommended to me by a long time professional artist.

If you want a high sheen gloss finish, then this is a good choice. It dries within a reasonable amount of time and brings out a saturated hue to your painting
