Renewed and relaunched in 2011, Winsor & Newton Artists' Oilbars are a unique formulation of genuine oil color in a solid stick. It offers artists an exciting and versatile way of painting and drawing — from sketching to sgraffito — and it can be used in combination with tube color.
Artists' Oilbars combine the rich, buttery consistency of tube oil color with the immediacy of pastels and charcoal. These oil colors were originally developed by artists for artists and are made from quality artist-grade pigments, oils, and other specially selected waxes.
A broader range of 50 colors expands creative options for artists' palettes. Better still, the new range harmonizes with all other Winsor & Newton tube color ranges for effortless transitions and combinations.
Softer on application than the original, the new Oilbar transfers to canvas with less pressure, further freeing the artist to create bold gestures or subtle passages.

Feeling young again
Comments about Winsor & Newton Artists' Oilbars:
I haven't use oil bars since high school, haven't really thought much about it until just recently. I never realized how much I could miss using a specific medium until it was back in my hands. Thank you!

These are real oil paint sticks. This goes onto the canvas in a more effective way than others that I've not been satisfied with. I use only Windsor and Newton Oil Bars from Dick Blick.

W&N Artists Oilbars

I started using Oilbars about 2 months ago. I have tried all brands of Oilbars/oil sticks and have found Windsor and Newton Oilbars to be the best for the way I paint. I use them in creating under paintings - they blend and are really smooth giving a great look. I usually add 2 -3 more layers, and they have worked really well. I love the fact that I can use my fingers or brushes to smooth and paint.

got it sooner than expected and quality products
i love using oil stix...and ive done alot of drawings already. and as with any paint u get what u pay for as far as pigment goes. the only gouge was shipping 12 stix it was 11.95. it was that at 10 stix. i think different stuffing material like peanuts or shredded cardboard or regular bubble wrap could be just as protective as those little "pillows". just rather spend more on product then shipping ya know? but whatever it was the only drag about it all.

These oil bars are very smooth and buttery. They are wonderful to use for mixed media or just to draw with. I can't say enough about this wonderful product

W&N Artist Oil Sticks
from New Jersey
Liked this product a lot. It is very creamy, and I was able to use it to draw my underpainting and then get a great value underpainting using a brush, clothe or palette knife. Reason I didn't give it 5 stars? The wax type coating is difficult to remove, making it inconvenient to use the product in its stick format without getting paint all over your hands trying to remove it.

Oil painter for many years, somewhat new to oil sticks. If you want to stay loose here's your answer. Good fun too. But I must warn trying to get the rappers off these things would take even the most patient of artist out of the zone.

This is the only oil stick (in yellow ochre) that does fade over time on my outdoor work.
