Combined with more than 170 years of manufacturing and quality control expertise, the formulation of Winsor & Newton Artists' Oil Color ensures the best raw materials are made into the world’s finest colors. Winsor & Newton Artists' Oil Color is unmatched for its purity, quality, and reliability — a success that is reflected in its worldwide reputation among professional artists.
Winsor & Newton uses only the purest of pigments in the manufacture of its Artists' Oil Color line, ensuring the cleanest, brightest colors, which in turn produce the best color mixtures. Maximum quality control throughout all stages of production, plus the selection of the most suitable drying oils and pigment dispersion methods, ensure that each color's properties are preserved.
The Winsor & Newton Artists' Oil Color range offers a wide and balanced spectrum of 120 colors in a variety of sizes. Each color has been specially selected to offer the greatest choice and flexibility, ensuring that artists obtain a palette that is best suited to their work.
Winsor & Newton's quality standards include the use of single pigments wherever possible to create individual colors. Combined with strength of color, single pigments provide a wide color range in themselves and offer cleaner, brighter mixtures with an infinite range of hues. This is particularly important for greens, violets, and oranges. There are 80 single pigment colors in the Artists' Oil Color range.
Winsor & Newton has also developed permanent alternatives for the less durable traditional colors, without compromising the handling properties consistent with oil paints. Of the 120 colors in the Winsor & Newton Artists' Oil Color range, 119 are now classified as "permanent for artists' use," which aids the longevity of paintings. Although Alizarin Crimson is only given a "B" rating (moderately durable), it has been part of the Artists' Oil Color range for more than 130 years and is still considered a key color by many contemporary artists.
Because every Winsor & Newton Artists' Oil Color contains the maximum pigment consistent with good handling qualities, it achieves the optimum tinting strength when reduced with White. Winsor & Newton Artists' Oil Colors remain soft and wet for several days, allowing ample time for rework. All colors become touch-dry in thin films within 2 to 12 days.

Most of my 200ml tubes have leaked
from Dallas TX
Great paint at a great price, I've purchased 30+ tubes. However most of my 200ml tubes have leaked or oozed oil from the bottom (see attached picture). Had no issues with the 37ml tubes.

I've been spoiled. Yay!
from Colorado Springs ,Colorado
It's been about 35 years, since I've seriously dove into oils. I'm a professional artist, I rotate my mediums, between watercolor, acrylic, oil pastel, pastel and oil ( as well as drawing) I thought I'd give oils another shot, glad I did. The drying time, has improved.( If you're wanting to acquire patience, work in oil or watercolor, it's far more relaxing than acquiring with people) These are dry for additional painting in about 3 days, (providing you're painting thin, or lean.. if you paint with thick/impasto application, you're on your own to figure that time line out.) I have a large selection of oils, since I started out in oils, that's pretty old for oils. but I do have them that aren't older than dirt, and here is what I discovered. Throw out any oils that are over 20 years old. Yeah they can still be soft, but the tubes, don't hold up over the years, so you squeeze too hard, you'll bust a tube if you're not careful. Not pleasant with an old large tube of paint. Just bite the wallet and restock. Also, this brand is wonderful, has heavy pigmentation load, so you don't use up half a tube, to get what you need out of it. The texture is creamy as soft Irish butter. Seriously get into a texture frenzy mixing. Is quite lovely. My only complaint, they do not make this color in a larger tube. seriously? Yes, you don't need a lot of this color, but I'm happy with a big tube. Just a personal preference. ( and It's a staple color for me) If you're going to paint, buy the best you can afford. but I firmly believe if you put this brand next to another cheaper brand, you'd soon find out which you'd be best using, this will go farther, you don't have to use as much. (again, better pigmentation load) Nothing sucks worse than having a great painting, and a couple years down the line, the difference in quality starts to show on your canvas/support.
