Artists' Canvas from Winsor & Newton is a range of back-stapled, stretched canvas that is manufactured to the highest quality standards. Made with heavyweight 8 oz natural cotton duck, these canvases feature a medium grain surface. They are ideal for all techniques, including heavier applications of color, and can be used with oil, water-mixable oil, acrylic, and alkyd paints.

Artists' Canvas is triple-coated with acid-free sizing and two coats of highly pigmented acrylic primer specially developed by Winsor & Newton. Balanced absorbency and tooth prevents sinking of oil colors and improves adhesion.

These canvases feature frame construction with kiln-dried, ¾" stretcher bars. Tailored corners and excellent tension are achieved by hand stretching each canvas. In addition, ample canvas on the back allows for restretching. 13/16" (21 mm) deep, staple-free edges can be painted to display finished paintings with or without a frame.

Great, artist's quality canvas at an affordable price. You won't be dissapointed by this line of stretched canvas, and the W/N engraving on the back of the stretcher bars is a nice touch.

The canvas has a slighter rougher texture than I typically prefer, but otherwise there is nothing else to complain about here. These canvases are fantastic.

Good, but hard to keep clean.

I've used these cavases for both acrylic and oil paintings and they work well with both. My only complaint about this product would be that the surface can be a bit rough, and if you prefer to sketch out your piece before applying paint, it is very difficult to remove marks from the canvas. More often that not, attempts to erase leave large, dirty-looking smudges and smears across the canvas.

Great Canvas

The wood frame is strong. The front edges are rounded. The staples are in the back so that the sides can be painted in a gallery wrap style. The canvas grain allows easy painting. My customers like it.

I just love all winsor & newton products, they have the best quality, the canvas is very well streched, the frame is just the right size, the smell of the wood is incredible, I haven´t used it yet but i´m looking forward to it.
