Water mixable oil colors
I have used Winsor Newton's water mixable oils for 10 years now. I love being able to clean my brushes with water. The colors are vibrant and you can mix them with the corresponding water mixable stand oil for even better results. Blick has the best prices on these products that I have found. Often half price compared to large art department stores.

I'm an active artist and use this product line a lot. I use the water miscibles.
I love these paints!
from Montclair, NJ
I've been using these paints for years now for my paintings. I've used "real" oil paints plenty but I really don't like dealing with turpentine and other harsh chemicals as cleaners and I don't have a well ventilated room. I'll admit if I had a well ventilated large room I'd go back to regular oils BUT that doesn't mean that these don't hold their own! Using only water to clean my brushes with is AMAZING! There are pros and cons to using water mixable oils that are noticeable such as drying time and the way the paint lays down but I have/sell paintings in galleries and shows and they do just as well as any others using regular oils. I haven't tried too many different brands for water mixable oils but Winsor & Newton was one of my favorite regular oil paint brands and I've enjoyed their water mixable oils so much I've use them exclusively now for my oil paintings and I do love them.
Water Mixable Oils

I started using watermixable oils when my daugter was born. Living in an apartment the regular oils and turpenoid where very strong in their smell. I have not looked back since.

I painted "By A Nose" with Winsor Newton water mixable oil colors.
I painted Bob Marley with painted with Winsor Newton water mixable Titanium White and Ivory Black.
I have been using these oils for my oil and cold wax technique and they hold their pigment very well with the wax. Will continue purchasing.
I was originally pleased but...
By Ryan T.
from Charleston, SC
I had bought these oil paints a while back, and I was originally happy with them. Though, they seems to stay 'tacky' a bit longer than traditional oil paints, especially linseed oil paints that dry relatively quickly for an oil paint. The tone of the paint also seemed to darken as it cured. I am not sure if this was my eyes or some aspect of the drying of the oil paint I have not noticed with other oils.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
i'm a professional painter and I love this paint
I work as a full-time artist and if switched over to using all water soluble paint. I love it because I have the feel, texture and consistency of oil paint but can clean it up with soap and water. It also allows me to not only use their mediums with you oil but also mediums that I would normally use with acrylic. This gives me great techniques .

I might buy this product again

I did enjoy this product for the price and for the reason that it helps consume less toxins and chemicals. However the paint is super thick and hard to blend. I wish I had just bought the regular oil colors but this worked out well.
Winsor & Newton Water Mixable Oils contain the same ingredients and perform just like conventional oil colors except that you can use water to clean them up. They are a great choice for artists who have a sensitivty to solvents or who just want the ease of clean-up in the studio or out in the field.
