Lightweight, non-greasy silicone-based cream easily rubs into the skin to form an invisible barrier that protects hands from artists' materials. Messy digits clean easily with soap and water and irritating substances won't penetrate the skin.
Pleasantly scented, it contains an emulsion of waxes, glycerin, and natural oil, which also condition the skin.

Comments about Winsor & Newton Artguard Barrier Cream:
I use alkyds applying them to the palette wearing disposable gloves after which I apply Artguard. It works as well as can be expected. Only a dab required. A jar lasts a very long time.

Very happy with it!
A little goes a long way.

Pretty much unscented. I can't stand scented stuff. A little bit of the cream covers hands making cleanup easy. I bought it to protect my hands from pigment in encaustic. Will try with acrylic.

It's just good for your hands.
I hate gloves!
from San Antonio Texas
I am a messy painter but hate wearing gloves ; this is the perfect solution! Paint can get all over my hands and just washes off! Love it!
Makes clean up oil paint on your hands very easy
from San Jose, CA
This is a very useful product to keep paint off your skin. I haven't outgrown getting my fingers in my paint so gloves never suit me very well. It goes on smoothly and you don't notice it on your hands while you're working. I used to buy barrier cream at the paint store but it seems house-painters are using gloves now so barrier cream has become more of an art product and more expensive. This is a good product though and a little of it goes a long way.
Protects and is kind to skin
from Cape Cod, Massachusetts
I do oil painting and encaustic painting and I use Artguard for both. I find that it protects my hands in that when I am done and wash up, all the color that has gotten on me washes off much more easily. If I had an open wound, I would use gloves for that, but most of the time Artguard is all I need. Once you rub it in, in just a minute or so it seems to disappear, so it's not greasy while you work. But it does the job and makes your hands feel soft and well conditioned ... which is a bonus.
New trial for me
from Beavercreek, OH
I learned about this product from a renowned artist who mentioned it at a demo he was giving to our art Assoc recently. So, I ordered it & have tried it, & it certainly did help to keep my hands much cleaner & safer from the oil paint I use in my art work. Where have I been that I was not aware of this wonderful product? And, it does not take a lot, nor can you feel it on your hands. Great product for oil painters.

A little goes a long way

This works really good. I was spotless after my art class while others were paint stained! I wiped some on my towel and helped to clean that up as well.

This works better then anything I have tried. I don't use much that is really caustic, but it sure makes cleaning my hands easier. I only wear gloves when absolutely needed. This doesn't leave any residue on your work.
