Windsor and Newton, I figured it had to be good. Wrong. It's a pain to set up. The leg locks don't always grab as they should. It's cumbersome and doesn't really pack up into its case easily. I used it about four times, thought about putting some effort into modifying it to make it usable, having spent what I thought was a lot of money for it, but decided that I'd be better off cutting my losses. I ended up donating it to Salvation Army's thrift shop, I just couldn't justify it taking up the space it did (which isn't a lot, it's nicely sized).

I am amazed that this has so many good reviews. I must have a defective unit. This is the most unstable easel I have ever used period. The back leg no matter how tight you make it will over extend it self and the easel wobbles from
Side to side to a point that the board is impossible to work on. All I no is mine was thrown in the garbadge because it could barely hold itself up.

I used these at my art show in NY. They set up very quickly and easily. The compact size and light weight including a shoulder sling allowed me to easily carry them into the exhibition. They looked very professional and adjusting them is a snap. My one very wide and heavy frame bowed the legs and the top arm didn't fit over the edge of the frame but tilting the picture back a little still made this easel a big winner in my book. All my other pictures fit and worked perfectly.

easy to carry, folds up well and can use either on a desktop or in the field. will look forward to using it. the only down side is that the case itself is heavy-ish: it adds another pound to the total carrying weight - but it is an easy to carry item anyway. Happy with product!

I really like the easel, and the carrying case is awesome. The price was super, and you probably won't be sorry if you buy this. I have not ever bought a big wooden easel, so I don't know how this compares to those that are much more expensive. I am an art student, and this does the job nicely!

This comment is for the watercolor version. The design is such that the easel cannot support a watercolor block, 'gator' board, or merely a thin board with watercolor paper affixed. As soon as one tries to attach any of these it is apparent that the 'braces' are poorly designed. On the positive side, though not much help for the watercolorist, the tripod is sturdy and easy to set up. And, the price is better than most sites. Regretfully, I returned the item.

My easel has been all over Europe - fits good in my suitcase.
Easy to operate and sturdy too. For watercolorists - if the top insert is too long to accomodate your w/c blocks then you can saw off a few inches. I did this and it works just fine. I'm ordering a second one - can't go wrong with this one!
