sketch easel works to display lightweight pieces
By Community Arts Assn
Comments about Winsor & Newton Aluminum Bristol Easels:
I bought it on sale so that influences the degree of value for money spent. I used three easels to display canvases. The easel sets up easily and dismantles equally readily. It doesn't weigh much and comes with a carrying case. It should be easy to store. That is an issue for me. Not so great is that it is lightweight and I hesitate to set larger framed pieces on it.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Easy to use Easel, Easy to break down, versatile for table
from Berlin MD
The easel has been used in the studio fully extended for floor use and also for table work. It was quite easy to set up and brake down. The storage/carrier is quite portable.
I appreciated the prompt shipment and really like my easel.

I bought this Watercolor easel because of the Winsor and Newton name thinking it would be high quality. I know people who own the regular easel, it's OK, but the watercolor easel is difficult to set up. the adjustment to set the easel flat uses a piece that is easily lost in the field, it's hard to explain, but it's a bad design. I've seen another easel that uses a knob that you twist. Wish I had bought this, I don't use this easel because of all the problems setting it up and fitting it back in the carry bag. When I tried to contact Winsor and Newton to replace a part I got no response. If I could return this for something else I would.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Not for tall artists
This easel seems stable enough. My problem with it is that I am 6' tall and the bottom bracket that holds the canvas will only come up so far. If I'm working on a smaller canvas I actually have to look down at it. I've done a work around by putting three 6" blocks under the feet but wish I didn't have to.
Bristol Water Colour Easel 7006119

Very light and rigid and sturdy. Well constructed square aluminum legs with handy rocker style locking toggles. Comes disassembled in its own semi-rigid carrying case. Great price. Best portable easel I've worked with.
Lightweight, easily adjustable, high functioning easil.

Sets up quickly indoors or outdoors. Exactly what I wanted.
Adequate for my needs
I will use this easel to demonstrate painting to beginning painters. As such, it should be adequate for my needs. The frame is light weight aluminum with adjustable legs, which will be very helpful. The only drawback I see is that the tray that the painting sits on is plastic (very light weight plastic) and has a tendency to be easily bumped off when there is nothing on it. However when a canvas sits on it, it holds on just fine.
