I am very pleased with the quality of these student grade watercolors. They compare favorably with much more expensive lines. Earlier this winter I bought a set of much more expensive paints but needed a wider color selection than I could afford at the time so I bought 20+ of these. The colors are delightful.. intense & rich, blend well, hold their color after they are dry. Shipping was quick and packing was excellent. Thanks Blick's.

We ordered this for our daughters Artist report in which we created a likeness of an original. The whole family (puppy included) had a blast painting, mixing the colors and the vibrancy of the landscape came to life. Perfect size for this effort and still plenty left over for snow/rain day projects.

I just started watercolor and bought Daler Rowney set of paint. I kept seeing comments about Paynes grey and Phthalo blue so I ordered these and more in student grade Van Gogh. Wow. These paints really pop out and are brilliant.

I use these student-grade watercolors for very high frequency colors in my works (Payne's Gray, Prussian Blue, Sap Green) and they are of a very good quality for student grade watercolors. I know a professional watercolorist who exclusively uses these, as they are not expensive and suit his purposes well.

I bought the set of 12 half-pans years ago, and I have absolutely loved it ever since. These are the best "student quality" watercolors I've ever tried. The kit comes with a nice range of colors, and the paints themselves are bright, pigmented, and transfer smoothly onto the paper. The brush that comes with the palette is also of very nice quality. I also love how portable this is. I just throw this palette and a waterbrush into my bag, and I'm all set.

The only problem I had was that the half pans aren't locked into place, so when I accidentally knocked over the open palette, they fell out. I did buy my palette a some time ago, so maybe they've changed that since then.

Even with that minor flaw, this is a fantastic watercolor set. I recommend this to both beginners, who may be looking for a nice kit with a variety of colors with which to get started, as well as to more advanced artists, who may be looking for less costly alternatives, but don't want to sacrifice on quality. These are great paints at a very reasonable price.
