Comments about Ulano Stencil Remover No. 4:
This makes reclaiming screens a snap! Just spray and scrub in a let the chemistry work its magic. Just be careful of the clock- if you let it stay in your screen for longer than 10 minutes you run the risk of the particles solidifying into your screen.

I used this in conjunction with a power washer and my screens were cleaned in a heart beat.

I just returned to silk screening after many years, so my screens were new, and this emulsion remover worked quickly and cleared everything off the screen. I am very pleased with it and recommend it. I just poured it on the screen and rubbed with a cloth and all the emulsion just disappeared. It was never so easy in the past, and this is a great improvement over the older methods. It's nice to know that I'll be able to save all my screens and clean them without damaging them.

We used this stuff on a screen that had emulsion locked in for two months! After putting the Ulano Stencil remover on it, it literally came off effortlessly. It's really great stuff.
works like a charm
works fast on screens. I ended up diluting it one time cause I was low, and it still worked great. And personally, get a gallon by default. Quart is nice, but it goes quick, unless you do little reclaiming.

Second Review, Second Thoughts
I was less than enthusiastic in my initial review of this product. I've since had an opportunity to run some tests and I'm happier with Ulano Stencil Remover No.4. They key factor that seems to impact the success of this product--aside from removing excess screen ink and using a powerful wash spray--is proper coating and exposure. If you overcoat your screen and create puddles or excess emulsion, these areas can cause problems for emulsion remover. This sometimes happens at the edges of a screen where emulsion builds up or overflows using a scoop coater. You can also create problems by over exposing a screen. I found this out by using the stencil remover on a coated screen that had been made with a test strip. The emulsion remover worked fine on the areas of proper exposure but less well on over exposed sections. The bottom line? Ulano Stencil Remover works great with properly coated screens which have been properly exposed. If you can control those two factors, the product works well. Interestingly, it also seems to work better (faster) than a similar product sold by Speedball in it's emulsion kit. It also works well on other emulsions besides Ulano, including Speedball's Diazo sensitizer.

Less Than Successful
I've had less success than the other reviewers. The product works well on some screens and less well on others. On some screens, the emulsion won't come out at all despite multiple cleaning sessions and fairly high water pressure. Most of my reading suggests that professional shops remove emulsion with a pressure cleaner. That may be a solution but I'm not sure I want to head down that road given the size and expense of good pressure cleaners. Small electric models could be an option, but I've read numerous poor reviews questioning their durability. Oh well. I guess screen fabric can always be replaced.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Efficient and easy to use

Recently I acquired an inventory of about 40 screens. Unlike other stencil removers I've tried, the Ulano Stencil remover requires fewer applications and I'm finding I can clean about 15 to 20 screens with one bottle! Very excited to find a brand that works and so quickly.
