Welcome to dickblick
This premium-quality, neutral-colored sanded pastel paper combines quality, consistency, and durability.
The 400 and 500 grade have a moderate "bite," while the 600 and 800 grade are super fine. All grades accept many layers of hard or soft pastels, yet also work well with other mediums.
The low-profile surface allows for easy erasing. Each board is pH neutral and acid-free.
Handling Charge — When ordering sheets of paper or board larger than 18” x 24” in quantities of less than 10, a $3.00 per order handling fee applies. Paper or boards may be assorted to reach the quantity of 10.

Great Pastel Board
By Art Cookie
from Frisco, TX
I bought the 600 grit UARt board for pastel painting. I usually do an under-painting in watercolor first and I was thrilled to see that the board stayed flat after painting. I enjoyed working on this because of the way the pastel adheres to the surface. I also am able to take off pastel and rework it again and again if needed. I would definitely recommend this product.
Great Pastel Paper
This paper was great to do an under painting and then use pastels it still took many layers and the paper didn't buckle.

Not a good surface in my opinion
from Little Compton, RI
I used this mounted version of Uart paper last week in a Master's workshop since we were working plein air. I've used and loved Uart paper many times and love it. This surface left me with hills and valleys, strange "tooth" quality, and disastrous results. Would not buy it again or recommend it. Mount your own!
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

UArt Sanded Pastel Boards
from Duluth, MN
The 500 grade is as close to Wallis as anything but the paper is so thin it curls. The board gives the paper the support that's needed. The problem is attaching it to a backboard when you are matting it.

UArt is Great!
from Atlanta, GA
I've been painting with pastels for 25 years. UArt is the best pastel support product on the market in my opinion. I use UArt 400 and it will take 10-15 layers of pastels easily and no fixative is needed prior to framing. The surface will take underpainting with alcohols, turps, watercolor to acrylic airbrush colors without damage. Results from using UArt are spectacular. If you insist on rubbing your pastels into the surface (and I recommend that you never rub pastel applications) then this paper is not for you. Try Canson or Pastelmat instead. You can't gowrong with UArt. It is neutral pH and will last for centuries if properly framed under glass.Try it...you will like it.

first time and I used the sanded board
from Payson IL
This was my first time using pastel pencils and I chose to use the sanded board. I was very happy with my total experience and the pastel colors just glided smoothly over the surface.

Are those prices right??
UArt is a sensational paper for soft pastels. One of my favorites. I would love to be able to purchase UArt paper already mounted so I don't have to mount them on boards myself, but these UArt boards cost FOUR TIMES what an unmounted sheet of the same size costs. That is WAY overpriced, much to my dismay. I'm going back to mounting my own.

Maybe for the oil artist but not pastels
from washington dc
This product is very difficult to use with pastels. It is hard on tools and fingers. There is not a lot of blendability until there are at least 5 layers of color on the board. It would probably work perfectly for oils or acrylics though I caution the painter with a shallow budget. This paper is obviousle meant to last and it will, but it will take a lot of patience to fill it with art.
