Comments about Tombow Irojiten Colored Pencil Sets:
I got the blister pack of 5 of the sepia and the grays for sketching on toned paper. I have as yet to do a drawing with them. I love the colors and the art work created with them on the package. The tutorial , I saw using them on a flower was absolutely beautiful!!! I like how they feel on the paper. Sharpen well not too soft or hard, the right feel in my hands. They are a firmer pencil but seem soft in a way as well when laying down. after I do a drawing will know more. You can't go wrong with one of these blister packs of 5 to try, they are a decent price less than 2 a pencil. They are lighter in color but that is how they are made. On toned paper they look great from just doodling. After I complete something am considering purchasing a set or all sets of them. I would try the blister pack or a couple of pencils. I like how they look and feel.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Not Worth it
By Jess Jess

Bought it due to the nice packaging but product is underwhelming. Colors are weak even when applying alot of pressure and they don't blend well. Only good thing in the set is the tombow eraser.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

It is a shame that these pencils are not lightfast rated, the only negative I have. They are smooth and beautiful with a nice selection of colours. The texture of the pencil is not like any other and I can't wait to use them in my work, having only "played" with them so far .
Weak colors, faded. Very disappointed as I love their markers.

Beautiful colors, though not as intense as I'd hoped. Very difficult to remove stray marks, but they do not smudge without some effort.

Art pencils like no other!
from Sydney, Australia
I've been drawing since I was a little girl, i've had the opportunity to draw on many different mediums usings a lot of different products and I can honestly say for art pencils these are definitely pencils to have in your collection! They're much softer in texture, theres an amazing transfer of colour to paper, brights stay bright, hyper colours actually look like a hyper colour on paper, pastel colours actually look like pastel colours on paper! They also come beautifully packaged like a set of books. I can't fault this product at all. The pencil has an even distribution of weight when holding them. They're worth every dollar! Love using them I highly reccend them!
surprised by colors

Hesitant to buy due to price. However I loved the fact that I can buy them in separate sets to spread out the cost. Colors are fantastic and blend well.

I have been using, and loving, colored pencils for many years, and I have many from many different producers such as Derwent, Prismacolor and Lyra. I ordered all three sets of the Irotijen pencils and I am so very happy that I did! The colors are simply lovely and the way they are packaged makes it easy to find just what I am looking for. As everyone who uses colored pencils knows, they differ from maker to maker in softness and hardness of lead, lightfastness and intensity of color, etc. On the con side, I find that the Irotijen pencil leads are a bit harder that I usually like, but the beauty of the colors makes up for that. I happily recommend these pencils.

I was taking a class that was using Irojiten color pencils and I was hesitant on purchasing them because I have so many other brands. When I saw the price at Dick Blick I sprung for them because it was a great price. The colored pencils have beautiful colors broken down in sets that go together very well. The quality of the pencil is superior, keeps a good point and blends well. Can't wait to get other sets!!
