Just wet the brush and work up a lather on the hard cake. Even old, hardened oil paint brushes can be restored to their original snap and luster.
Brush Cleaner and Preserver works on most acrylics and watercolors, too. It gives off no harmful fumes or odors, and it's safe for use in the classroom or studio.

It's close to bbeing perfect

I cleans and keeps brushes soft and clean. We had a lady leave her brushes behind when she left the class. They were hard and stiff. We filled the bristles wit as much of the cleaned as we could and gave them a good wash. They were still hard we put more cleaner and wrapped them in foil for 3 or 4 days. we repeated this for a couple of more times. The brushes are now like new and soft and usable again.

Use it everytime I clean up my brushes. Brushes last longer. If I think I have them clean, I use the cleaner and always It gets out more paint.
By middle school paint brush savior!
from Stuart, FL
The only reason I didn't select "best in its category" is because this is the only one I've ever used. I recently took over a middle school art class full time, and the hundred of paint brushes that were left by the previous teacher were in terrible condition. Many of the brushes that I thought were complete trash were restored (as best as they could be with all the missing bristles). Some of my students have even seen me cleaning brushes with this solid soap and wanted to come help. It is satisfying to take a totally stiff, unusable brush ... or a seemingly clean one by the eye (because we all know kids don't do deep cleans)... and watch the white soap turn bright blue, or pink, or black, or whatever color the past 30 years of students had used. Brushes are left soft and shaped well. I love this cleaner. (The only ones I couldn't save had been completely coated with dried acrylic and would now better serve as knives).

has kept my brushes in good shape so far
Helps keep brushes in shape and doesn't dry them out. Softens and cleans even brushes with dried on paint.

This product when left in the brush in small amounts keeps them pliant.
Life saver for brushes

My brushes have a hard life with several classes using the same brushes. The Masters brush cleanser works great and I can show students its not clean with the soap. Much easier to manage than a liquid.
Brush Cleaner is the best!

I needed a cleaner for my watercolor brushes and this product fit's the bill. So easy with no mess and washes up very nicely.

As a student oil painter, my solvent doesn't stay so clean. The brush cleaner gives me peace of mind after the run through the solvent. After the brushes dry, I then work a little olive oil into them. It is satisfying to wash my brushes with the masters brush cleaner. I like that no matter what kind of painting I'm doing, the brush cleaner can handle it all. Buy the tub, then scoop a little into a jar for on the go.
