Showcasing the Metropolitan Museum of Art's magnificent collection of 18th century Neapolitan Baroque angels and crèche figures, this book tells the story of the Nativity through 125 gloriously reproduced images of angels, townspeople, kings, grand ladies, shepherds, and their flocks. The collection has been displayed annually at the Met in New York City for more than 50 years. It includes more than 50 angels and 100 crèche figures, many sculpted by major artists of the period. Linn Howard is the daughter of Loretta Hines Howard, who collected and donated the crèche figures to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. She now oversees the installation of the "Angel Tree" every year.
