Lightweight, compact, and portable, the Testrite Backpacker plein air easel travels wherever you do and provides complete flexibility in the field or studio.

Rest your paint box or palette on the center leg. Three leg spikes or rubber tipped feet provide stability outdoors or in.

Telescopic legs extend the easel to 75", and yet it folds up to a compact 21", easily fitting into most suitcases or backpacks.

Also includes a watercolor attachment to accommodate watercolor blocks, sketch pads, or a stretched canvas up to 26" tall (66 cm). A black carrying bag with shoulder strap and handles is included. It measures 43" L × 7" W × 4" H.

Once I figured out that I could weigh it down with my Nalgene & carabiner, I can put canvases up to 40x50 on it in the field! And that's with a 2" side. Really lightweight and great!

I purchased my 3x3 backpackers easel elsewhere on sale. At the other company it didn't come with either the watercolor attachment (sold separately) nor was the case offered at all, so my review is only for the easel itself. It is the only field easel appropriate for pastel because it can balance very well forward from vertical allowing the dust to fall away from the work and it is sturdy if you use it for half-sheets of paper (or smaller) in low/no breezes. Larger works of art will not be adequately supported while vigorously painting in the upper corners, and a gust of wind could sail the whole setup away unless you add an anchor of some sort to your set-up. The easel is more fiddley to set up than the steel tripod-style easels, but not nearly as bad to set up as another lighter-weight competitor's tripod-style easel. The fold-out spikes are a great addition, but do not provide total insurance against the wind. This easel is made with minimal use of plastic parts that could break. The two bottom canvas/drawing board supports tighten with plastic knobs and the top canvas/board clip is made from a very sturdy sort of plastic in combination with metal springs and aluminum back rest-- unlike a competitor's similar easel which broke on it's first airline trip. I especially like how lightweight this easel is. I have come to realize that for my short-limbed body, I do not want to be reaching over a palette or box of pastels to reach the canvas/drawing board, nor do I want my pastel dust dirtying the pastel sticks so I don't want any all-in-one pochade/easelbox. I can't think of any way to improve upon this easel. The price is inline with Blick's competition.

Easel was a little cumbersome and case was a very poor design. I felt it was over priced and I found something similar for less money and better quaflity.
I returned the product.
